I didn't get to go to the birthday bash for Buckeroo in the spring and I was so disappointed. But I just found out I can go this weekend! Yeah! My friend Barbara and I are going and we plan on learning a LOT! No, we are not taking a trailer, although Barbara asked me if a horse would fit in the back of my SUV

Im really really really tempted to go..its on a Saturday too so probably would have that day off, dad actually asked me a few days if i was going to go..even dad wants to go, very rare. Gas prices are so low too...way tempting. Just worried i will have trouble sitting on my hands, have a colt coming home this week already

.

I missed the heritage sale this year as someone decided to run into the back end of my truck (thank you where ever you are!) just days before.

I just might go to meet you, Parmela!

C'mon. Let's go! We can encourage each other to stay seated on our hands.

Funny story I didn't tell you guys. At the World Show Sale my friend Barbara and I were bidding on a couple of horses (but we were soon outbid every time) and at one point we made a split second decision to bid on a horse we hadn't previously discussed. So, she raises her hand and we've got the high bid. Then very quickly several other people chimed in and we were over our budget. Well, Barbara gets all animated with her hands while we're discussing this and the guy looks at her and says "hep!" I'm like "Barbara, we just bought a horse." She says "no we didn't." I'm saying "oh yes we did!" We're sitting at the table going crazy because we can't afford the price we're locked in at! Fortunately, someone else out-bid us. But the guy keeps looking back at Barbara trying to get her to bid again! That was a very close call! :DOH!

Ive heard of that a few times before actually...when i was a kid i did that to my dad one time an estate auction, i was like 10 and got to moving my hands around...dad ended up taking home a very ugly (and over priced...hehe) recliner...

Does anyone know what time the sale starts saturday? Im sure tack sells before the horses too?

Talked to dad, we're going

i'm excited to go.. too broke so no way of bidding..LOl but it should be fun just to go watch and see!

LOl I bid on a couple of goat kids once at an auciton when i was like 3. Of course the auctioneer didn't take it seriously at first but my parents gave the "ok nod" and decided to humor me and allow me to really bid on them. The other guy didn't relise it was a little kid bidding and when he found out the auctioneer gave him a guilt trip so badly the other bidder (dad thought it might be a slaughter man) wouldn't bid anymore..LOl we ended up with two baby (think they were nigerian dwards) goats.

Well, I just found out about the sale yesterday, but I'm gonna try to clear my schedule to go. I just love going to LK farm and checking out all their gorgeous horses. Plus another chance to see/touch Buckeroo. Last Oktoberfest they held was 2 yrs ago, and I went with enough cash that I hoped I would end up with one mare. Some of the prices were so reasonable, that I ended up bringing 3 yearling fillies home. They are 3 of the loveliest mares I own with top-notch pedigrees. I don't think the horses they currently have listed is a complete listing. It is hard to say just what may be offered for sale. So, I guess I'll go, and I guess I'll haul the trailer, because I didn't take it to the Heritage sale in May and ended up having to make a 2nd trip to pick up my new horses. I also need some other items, and last time I was amazed at all the horse/barn items they auctioned off. Hope to see some of you there, but please, if you see me bidding, stay seated on your hands. LOL.

I am going - all the way from Saskatchewan Canada - about a 27 hour drive (one way)!!!! Hopefully I will get a chance to meet some of you "Forum Friends"!!!!!!

Wish I could go... You'd give me a ride, wouldn't you, Cindi?

Wish I could go, but I'll be at a land auction instead...definitely not anywhere near as fun as horse auctions. It looks like there are going to be some very nice horses too.

Have fun you guys!

Just so you all know...barn opens at 9:00am and sale starts at noon. E-mailed Robin today as it wasnt on the site...she said there was not much equipment (if any) so will probably go straight to horses at noon...

There is something I am wondering about that I hope someone can explain to me. This is a public, open auction, but there are horses listed in a separate category with the heading that reads: PRIVATE TREATY HORSES- Special 1 Day pricing only available the day of the Sale-OBO. What exactly does this mean? Thanks in advance.

Yeah! I'm so glad so many forum members are going!

(Has anyone else ever stopped and just watched that dancing banana before? He's got some slick moves.

) Ok, I know, I need to get a life.

Mona, I saw that too but don't know what it means. I guess if you're interested in one of those horses you go discuss with the owner/agent directly and see if you can work out a deal? I don't know.

Leeana is correct, 9am on Saturday, nothing going on Friday night...but clipping and bathing according to Robin.

At the last Oktoberfest the Private Treaty horses had prices on their stalls. You don't bid on them. For example at the last one a Buckeroo son that had been priced at 18,000.00 for that day was 12,000.00. They are not part of the auction.

Does anyone know if it will be webcast? It doesn't mention anything about it that I can see on the website, but I am hoping.

I love watching all the pretty horses.

From what I remember they went pretty reasonably last year. They have a colt in there I would love to have so I better not go LOL

We are well on our way to LKF. We left Saskatchewan Canada on Tuesday morning and headed south to North Dakota. Spent the night at our good friends from Triple K Miniatures - then the 4 of us headed out early Wednesday morning. We dropped a horse off in Minnesota - and picked up a mare for someone else that we are dropping off later today. We made it to Madison Wisconsin Wednesday night - after driving about 16 hours (long day). We will arrive at LKF this evening - will drop the trailer off - and head on to Lexington Kentucky. We want to tour the Thoroughbred farms and hopefully visit JSW Farm as well (my husband is very fond of John Sr. and wants to visit with him). Then back to the motel Friday night (close to LKF) and we will be at LKF early Saturday morning to view the horses (no - I am not buying, I am not buying, I am not buying!!!!).

Then we will start the long trek home on Sunday - we should be back home by Tuesday evening - and I will be anxious to see all of our horses, dogs and cats.

Where are all of you coming from?
