Hi Steffanie,

You already know I am anxious to see pics of him now and especially ones you take to share with us when you get him home :)

It would really be neat if he is actually a correct very tiny mini!! :))

When do you plan to have him home with you?

Susan O.

Susan,

I am hoping to have him home by the first week of October! I am going to talk with my dad (he is coming back from 2 weeks in Europe...tonight!!!) about flying his plane down to pick up PeeWee, he is so tiny, and his owner was just thrilled about the idea of flying him instead of shipping...she said he would easily fit in a large transport cage!

So...crossing my fingers!

I would think dwarf or not he would NOT be a good public figure for the miniature horse. You will find that most people will go out wanting one to get one "just like that" & not find any. I know when I had my farm, people were always disappointed how big my 29" horses were compared to the little things they saw in petting zoos. ( dwarfs...) & that my horses were only "ponies, not true miniature horses". So keep this in mind if you do take him into the public, that you need to educate people that this is a one in a million miniature if he turns out to be the perfect tiny horse & that people will not be able to find another like it when they go looking.

Whitestar - thank you for the advice, but do you really think I am going to promote this little guy as the "average miniature horse" ?? I do know he is unusually small and I am trying to get our cities ordinance changed to allow mini's of the A division, 34" and under, so of course it's going to be included in my presentations that the average mini is around 32" which is about the size of a greyhound. I already made up a chart of common household dogs, medium - large sizes, to compare to miniature horse sizes. This is a really fun project and I am not limiting it to think I only think should be said, this is a wide-spread educational presentation, not selective. One of the first things out of my mouth is going to be how unusually tiny this little guy is =)

MiniHoofBeats,

I think Pee Wee/Thor or ??? is just adorable! How much fun to find such a little, tiny fellow!

I can feel your excitement about getting him and I think you are going to have soooo much fun with him.

He will definitely be a hit wherever you take him.

Some friends of mine that had a real small mini called him Hercules!!

I'm sure you are going to find just the perfect name for that little tiny man!!

I vote for Moose. We had a beagle puppy one time that was the biggest one born, so we named HER Moose...lol. But she ended up being the smallest.....lol The people who bought her kept Moose as her name.

I think I like Goliath or Moose

I look foward to seeing more photos- if he's all he's claimed to be it sounds like he'd be a real asset

Moose lol that is a good one though! "Hey kids, this is MOOSE!" I just try to imagine the looks on kids faces when they are introduced to "............" so I say it with every name...

"Hey kids, this is THOR!"

"Hey kids, this is GOLIATH!"

"Hey kids, this is ELVIS!"

"Hey kids, this is...PEEEEE WEEEE" LOL that cracks me up..I don't want him associated with Peewee Herman, i'm sure some kids learned already through the grapevine how he was on tv for possibly molesting children or whatever...otherwise I would keep PeeWee but...you know? lol!!!

Hmmm...what about...Triton, or Titan, or what do you all think of Maxamilian? aka Max for short?

What about Gelding.... he needs to be gelded if you are going to tote him around to schools, libraries, hospitals etc...... No need to have testosterone encouraging nipping of kids who cant get out of the way quickly.

Gelding is always an option, but personally if I am going to have one, and only one mini, I would prefer a stallion =) I love their flashy ways, and also my personal opinion, not every stallion is nippy, and if you have a stallion that has been around children all its life in a petting zoo, that never nipped, bit, or kicked, why geld him now? He doesn't NEED to be gelded to be around children, i'm sure other members on here have stallions that act like lambs around children and never ever offered to bite or nip, which is a great trait in my eyes =)

It is a great thing, yes. I have had a stallion that anyone could be around, young or old, alike. Thing is, though, when I decided that he was to become a Youth horse, the first thing I did, was make that Vet appointment to have him gelded. Not only so he could be used by a youngster, but think...INSURANCE.

I am sure that the petting zoo that he now resides at, has adequate insurance to have a stallion...will you?

It would only take one child hurt, whether it was his fault or not, to potentially put you into the poor house. I know it...a good friend of mine was sued for over half a million, because his gelding spooked and hurt a child. Had it been a stallion...you can bet it would have been more...just becuse they have the reputaion for being unpredictable.

I love their flashy ways,
If you are taking this animal into the public, what traits you, yourself desire, aren't necessarily the traits which will make the animal best suited for that job.

Wow one more time negativity abounds. I wish you luck and much happiness with your new addition.

I too wish anyone with such great ideas the best of luck, and I think that most who have posted here, feel the same. I don't feel it "negative" to share experience, and give someone a "heads-up", on what all this venture can intail, however wonderful it is.

: I think the perfect name for him would be "Brutus". He is too cute. I hope you have fun with him.

Brutus lol I kind of like it! Except I don't want a kid to think I am saying he is "brutal" lol!!! Hmmm...

backwoodsnanny - thank you, recently I was confronted with a personal hit against me and it now seems more obvious when people bring negativity to the table, even when it is indirectly pointed at me. I do feel somewhat as if a few people don't trust my own judgement or that I know what i am talking about, I am by no means new to mini's and i've owned a stallion...I know how they can be, and I do understand I am responsible if a child gets hurt. One would think to know that I of course would be evaluating PeeWee when he first comes to make sure he is worthy, and ok, to be brought around children and curious adults alike. I don't plan to just bring him out into public without learning about him and his behaviors first! I am thankful for those who are chipping in advice, but I feel it's rude to assume I don't know what I am getting myself into, and to tell me I have to geld my horse. But I really do appreciate input of others experience and opinions...as long as they are not a personal hit against me =)

Sue C - I appreciate you filling me in regarding the insurance in case a child is hurt, it is a good thing to be aware of. As far as my comment of "I like stallions because they are flashy" that is just my personal liking, and yes, I do feel that I should have a horse that I am happy with just as much as everyone who watches my presentations could be happy with...but first and foremost is still me, and my happiness with the horse. I would hate to have a horse put in a position where it is just kept here for the happiness of others...every horse deserves to have an owner who truly appreciates it. After a couple months, I may not be out to visit schools or elderly homes for a while, it may just be me and my mini, and I want to be happy with the one mini that I choose...just me and my mini =)

Thank you to everyone who has wished me luck and all the best with PeeWee, I plan to make the most out of our future friendship, and lives together =)

Hon.......I know you are truly excited about getting this little guy, and I definitely do not want to rain on your parade. He's as cute as a bug, and I know you will love him & have lots of fun sharing him no matter what.

I don't believe the "negative" comments posted on this thread are meant to be hurtful.....but to warn you that this little one may, indeed, be a Dwarf...no matter what others have told you. I tend to agree that he does not appear to be "normal" in the photo you've shown us. It looks like an old photo when he was younger, and taken at an angle where you can't really see how long his body is in relation to his legs. The way he is standing in the rear is very unusual too. I just don't want to see you be disappointed if he isn't what you've been told. And it is very likely......as I've never seen, nor heard of a mature 20" Miniature horse who wasn't a Dwarf.

Please post more pictures when you get them....we all want to see this little guy!

Dona, I do appreciate your input just as much as everyone elses =)

I have said it already earlier in the post but i'll say it again, I am keeping in mind that he may just be a dwarf, and if he is then I am preparing myself to take in and forever keep him as a dwarf =)

But, I am crossing my fingers and have high hope that he could just be a tiny, correct stallion...never been heard of before, but it sure doesn't mean it will never be heard of! He could very well be the worlds first, smallest, correct stallion...could possibly be....

but even so, I am keeping it in mind that he could very well be a dwarf =)

Hi Steffanie!

Tuesday is getting closer and then his trip to your place! I can't wait to see pictures and find out what you think of him in person :)

By the way, I have a little guy who is 30.5" and has always been my BEST ambassador of the breed.......... my stallion Rambo.

He has always had the best temperament a mini could have. He has been on my farm longer than any of my 30 + minis. He came here when he was 4 months old and is 18 years old now!

Rambo is the one I lead kids around on when they stop by and want to "ride" a mini or sit on one for a minute. :) He is better natured than some of my mares even. :)

And he has never bitten or kicked anyone who came to visit or at any place where we took him to visit...schools, the hospital, nursing home etc. He also is the one I drive in parades and have given cart rides with at our church picnics, and he has been mauled by fans there too. :)

Oh....... and he was the horse we walked into our city council when we were on our mission to allow minis in the city limits for my friend who needed my help 11 years ago....... in proving to them how gentle and nice minis can be !! :)

I must say I agree with those also who love their geldings.......... that they are great too! :)

But in the case of my Rambo .........I adore his foals, so that was out of the question for me.

I just want you to know I understand how excited you are and wish you the best of luck :)

Susan O.

Susan,

Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate what you have to say and I am so glad you personally have a great stallion to set an example of how keeping a stallion can benefit more than just gelding, because of children! You give me strength =)

Pictures are coming on Tuesday! I will scan them in and post them and get everyones opinions on what we think of PeeWee...its definitely not going to kill me if he is a dwarf, i'll be more than happy to welcome him home with open arms either way =)

Thanks to everyone who has supported me, and I appreciate those who left comments to think about...we'll truly see on Tuesday!!!
