    why is it?

Raving Storm Blazing Storm Sweet Storm Fearless Storm Perfect Storm I could come up with more if I knew her pedigree. I try to keep my foals pedigrees in their names, but I know lots of people don't like to. Anyway, beautiful little girl! Is she a keeper?

Gypsy Winds Ranch is very proud to announce..........

Midas did GREAT, Stacey! Grace is gorgeous! I love her face! Are you going to take her to Reno in July? Give Midas a hug from his big sis Missy! She's sure to be jealous when she sees Grace!

mare had a preemie, but still looks in foal

I don't believe it is possible for a mare to foal one baby without the other coming as well (providing there were twins). If she did have twins, there should have been two foals born. In cases where one foal dies, and the other lives, the living twin will keep the dead one there, and the dead...

    Check this out!

I have a mare that big too... but she is giving me some signs I won't have to wait too much longer. She's got a mushy butt, and is starting on a bag. My girl's belly is nearing her knees, she is that low. She did that last year too, though, and her filly last year was fine. A tad bit bigger than...

    Guess the color

I'm going to go with blue roan as well. And I'm totally jealous! I bought a blue roan colt, but he shed out black when he got older!

What kind of dog are you???

It said I'm an Alaskan Malamute... pretty cool, except I hate being cold!

    Is this a problem?

My advice would be for you to call your vet. Foals can go down hill very quickly, and your vet shouldn't get mad at you for being concerned about your baby. Give the vet a call, and see what they say. It's always better to call and bug them over nothing, than to not call, and possibly lose the foal.

    Dog Pack trouble

I am so terribly sorry to hear of this, Tony. I had hoped after last years tragedy that this pack had left the area. I was literally sick after reading your post. It has taken me two days to come back to reply. I hope you find and kill all the dogs in this pack. I wish I had a way to get down to...

    Need Help...

Hello all! I am giving a speech in one of my classes next friday, and I would really love it if people could send me pictures of dwarves, and also some nice pics of "normal" horses. Most of my class knows nothing about horses, so it is necessary to have at least one or two non-dwarf horses to...

    Oh those boys!

I was told if you hear screaming they are NOT playing. My boys play pretty rough. The only one I know who means it is the 3 year old. And since the other 3 won't start anything with him, and will stop if he gets involved, it works out pretty well. The other 3 colts are two yearlings, and a 2...

Do you ever get the "oh you cant be serious" look

Yes. One of my dad's friends used to have race horses, and every time we see him he asks about our "midget ponies". I have finally given up correcting him. After the fourteenth time of telling him they were mini horses, and not any type of midget ponies, I'm not going to try correcting him again...

Your closest "near misses" in foaling

Yes... my mare Lady last year was looking really ready... so I checked her every hour or so for two nights. SHe was pacing, and sweaty, and big bag, and the whole nine yards, too, on both nights. But no baby. So the third night, I checked until about 12-1 am, and since she wasn't pacing...

    when to breed mares

We are going to hold back and wait for our two 3 year old fillies this year. They both seem mature physically, and most of the time mentally. But I would rather wait than have them give up during foaling, or be a bad mom because I chose to let them breed before they were ready. I'd rather they...

    Hurt by Rude Sale-man-ship (MHR)

I'm going to go against the grain, and say forget the colt, and talk some more with your friend about the mare. She needs a good home, and Joy needs a friend. And they will remember each other. I know it is not easy to have a horse who is in need of daily handling (I have one, but since I don't...

I have to move my barn!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I honestly don't know how to move a barn. Maybe put it on skids to move it? That really sucks that your neighbor didn't talk to you about it first. My opinion on the "red neck" lady is to MAKE her move her fence that is on YOUR property. She is using your...

    broken crest

I bought a stallion from a forum member whose crest had fallen. He was in good weight, but had the thickest mane on a horse I've ever seen. And this was after she had cut some of it out, too! I cut more out after he got here, and had the vet look at him. My vet said once they fall, it's for...

What happened at the Lippizan Show

That really sucks. When they were here in Sacramento, they DID allow cameras. The concessions were still way over priced. We just got drinks though, as I know what that food will do to people with sensitive stomachs (and mom and I both do). Performance was flawless, and the head rider even made...

People that buy hay from feed stores

Where I am in Northern California there really are no farmers to buy hay from. You really have to go to a feed store. I buy hay from 3 different stores, although one I guess could be called a rancher/farmer. That guy has a feed store on his ranch, and sells mostly hay, but he also has some grain...

Your 2006 Foals, do they already have a name?

Yep... I have several lists running around here. We're only expecting two foals this year, but they are both very anticipated, and extremely wanted. One is a full sibling to my filly from last year, Princess. This one might be for sale due to lack of space. I can't keep full siblings with how...
