Warnings for those in the Northeast...

With the current conditions you may not be able to get flood insurance on an existing home. However, if I lived in such snow prone areas I would already have a rider for the excess snow issue. In fact, I do on my policy here and we rarely get anything like what the Northern areas have. Heck...

    Merlin Mini Hoof trimmer

I can see where it would be a tool that could work BUT, also one that needs undivided attention! Watched the videos they offered and all big orse feet on there. These tiny little hooves can be a challenge with nippers.....can we say practice?? I have scars on my knuckles from the rasp...

    Lasik update

When mom had hers done several yrs ago she was told to wait 2-3 months before having her glasses changed as she would have some vision changes with healing. So, know that you probably will also. Like Jill suggests, get some inexpensive readers and keep checking your progress.

Mare @ 280 days & Hubby is Kinda Concerned

Here's my input.....do you know how long she carried last yr? Generally they repeat within a close few days, at least mine always have. Plus, she isn't quite "v" yet but could be easily with the low carry. My small mares usually carried 300-310 days. So while she may not be ready she sure...

    Wee Foal Test Results!

Hmmmm --- I thought EVERY mare would pee almost as soon as they walked into a freshly cleaned/bedded stall Maybe it's ONLY if you aren't wanting her to.

Suggestions needed urgently - adding "sweetness" to feed taste

You say she likes grass...one of my old guys does also. While he has only 4 jaw teeth he can't masticate "hay" well. But has no problem with fresh grass. My observation is that he can bite it off in short pieces, it's wet, he can then chew that soft stuff. I purchased the best, leafiest...

Im going to be boarding a old mini

Yes, keep him on same feeds. Be prepared for a possible stress issue in moving one this age, like people, they have familiar settings and don't always like change. Also, since he is apparently not used to company -- OR if he is, it could be stress to leave them/it -- keep him away from your...

Have been watching this on the news for a few days...

Just reading your post makes me want to puke. If this person(s) can be found they need to do jail time and be forced to clean latreens by hand every day! Cruelty of this type deserves severe penalty. Bless those who found and saved them!

    Big horse failing...thoughts?

Having several elder minis I know that you have tried all you can think of! Every suggestion valid and great -- many you have already tried and they might work at one time, then not another. My thought is to have Bonnie talk to him and see if he has any "complaints or considerations" for you...

    Spring plant catalogs

When it's working, I'll post pics. Nope, haven't given this method a full try. However, I have planted with a layered set-up in yrs past using straw. At that time it was crate sides, some dirt in bottom, them straw and some dirt on top. The dirt really didn't do much more than...

    How many cups of coffee

I have always been a hot tea drinker...with about 1/2 tsp sugar & some half & half. So for years that's been my drink of choice but, always wanted a cup of black coffee about 2-3 o'clock when at work, mainly in winter. A little caffeine jolt As life changes occurred, I found myself...

    Spring plant catalogs

This year the area where my grandaughter's pool once stood (it is now dismantled and packed up) will become my bale garden -- straw bales used to plant tomatoes, etc. The area is already edged with landscape timber, covered with ground fabric and mulch, so I'm using it for a base rather than...

Teaching a minimal dwarf to drive

Your "unknown" concern is probably due to the general association we all have with driving on a very public basis -- shows, CDE events, etc. -- where there is considerable effort, strength, stamina, etc. required. It's the gut instinct to protect that you feel, IMO. She's probably never going...

Lasik eye surgery. Any body had it done?

Thanks, Jill. No, I really don't want to know what they do -- well not now, before it. But I will check out that lens site as I may well need that option. I'd put the $300 plus for my glasses toward those before I'd get another set made. Odd, as I can "do" and watch/help almost anything...

    Keeping safe from wildlife

Shari -- while VA has several varieties of poisonous snakes, they tend to remain within their own type of habitat. I've lived here for over 55 yrs and have seen only 2 rattlers, probably 3 cottonmouths (I was at the swamp) and maybe 1 copperhead. I hate snakes!!! But, truth is you see these...

    Leonie?

Saw the flood reports on TV last night and wondering if any members were in that area. Prayers to everyone -- forum or not -- with the devastation that I see there. Seems the entire world is having disaster after disaster of late.

Lasik eye surgery. Any body had it done?

My, my, my how timely is THIS? I already wear bi-focals and must if I want to see things across the room with any clarity But, I must remove them to read a book or newspaper. A couple of years ago I was told I had cataracts and I suppose -- judging from the description of vision changes...

    Kitten changing color....

I loved the site Mona gave -- how interesting. Also really, really liked the "silver dappled" cat on the site. Seems the color genetics of cats are as varied as our minis!

    Feeding Beet Pulp Pellets

They can be fed dry. OBVIOUSLY, they require more chewing than shreds and thus the issues. If your horses are elders and lack jaw teeth, this is not for them. Very young, same deal...and at an age where caps are dropping, caution is best. So, matured horses with good teeth and good eating...
