    Barn names

Had a pinto colt born here that had back legs and partial rump white. Reg name was "My britches are slippin". He had a red forelock on a white face, so my husband made his barn name "Opie" from the Andy Griffith Show. A pair of tiny geldings we named after hobbits: Sam and Pippen (they...

    Pet Peeves

I agree with all the posts so far as an annoyance or "pet peeve" when someone who should know better, misuses words. The only thing I want to add is that sometimes what we think of as a misuse of terminology is really an "old fashioned" way of speaking. For instance, I have a friend who is...

Very dangerous heat, out of ideas

"You don't mentioned access to salt. Just a plain old salt block, not a mineral one. " O.K, enlighten me....why does it have to be non-mineral one? The mineral ones are just salt with trace minerals added, so.... Thanks.

What's everyone doing to keep horses COOL!!!!!!

Hey, Taylor Jo! Great tips! I have one to add: I use fly spray with sunscreen in it. I've found that Flysect Super 7 works the best - especially on my black horses. I have literally gone to the barn to see my black mare hiding in the shade all sweaty (we have a run-in barn), I spray her with...

    Danger to minis

Anything new to report? You are a WONDERFUL person to help this mare. Best of luck.

Do I have negative effects on my horses?

I read your post and felt compelled to reply. First and foremost, take care of YOU!! I too, suffer from anxiety and depression, although not to the extreme you describe. Horses (or any animal) should be a balm, not add more to your worries. And they CAN be if you let them. Don't worry that...

    Added new one to tribe.....

Hmmmm....seems like Matt is right about the "last purchase" thing! Not like anyone believed you anyway! HA! She is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats!

Do you need to be a member to show

To expand on this question....don't you have to be a member to show your OWN horse? I know the horse has to be AMHR registered, but does my membership have to be current to enter her in an AMHR show? And what about an AMHA show - does my membership have to be current? Thanks.

    Objects of amusement for minis?

My mare's favorite toy is just a plain, empty water bottle (or even better with a little water left in it). Of course that may have something to do with the fact that she loves drinking any kind of beverage from a bottle - whether you want her to or not. I do treat her sometimes with her own...

    Lolli Bros. Sale

Just want to make sure - it IS o.k. to post about the auction AFTER it's over, right? I don't want to get in trouble with LB!! I was there, but did NOT write down prices this time. I'll try to hit a few tho... There were 2 "dwarfs" that sold. 1st one was around $1700! My friend swore it...

    AMHR Nationals made news here.

Hey!! The opening picture on that link is MY colt!! He won 7th in multi-colored stallions! That was a pleasant surprise. This was my 2nd year to show at Nationals, and I'm just a "small-timer" with a handful of horses that I think are GREAT, but aren't top of the line like all the big...

    Anyone Back From Lolli Bros??

I was there and sold 3 horses at the sale. What Sue said about Lisa's horses was correct, and I won't comment further, but I did have a LTD filly that I sold. I believe I had the highest price horse that sold. My little 25.5" very correct breeding stallion brought $2950. There were a couple...

    Smallest Mini

Well....a little bragging here. Up until Saturday, I owned a VERY correct 25.5" stallion that was bred at Bear Farms. I just sold him at Lolli Bros. I've shown him, and he was qualified for AMHR Nat. He throws VERY tiny, correct babies too. I'll see if I can add a pic. Well, don't seem...

Carthage MO AMHA and AMHR shows

Oh, I understand. Sorry, didn't realize I was asking a touchy question. I apologize. Thanks again for the heads-up, it really makes a difference in my class decisions for the next show.

Carthage MO AMHA and AMHR shows

I also was planning on going to that show. So, just to make sure, both the AMHA and AMHR show at Carthage, MO, on July 24 - 26, are completely cancelled? Do you know why? Thanks.
