Need to appologize to many forum members

To all of us that have posted our hard times and just needed some cyber hugs and support; Apologies not necessary. Heaven knows I have dumped on here recently. We are living in hard times now without the added stress of divorces, deaths, health issues and a bucket load of horse manure. I...

There is no place like home!

I am so glad your surgery is over and you did well. You have had more than your share of problems. One suggestion if you are going to have more procedures and follow-up is to tell your doctor you want a portacath. They put these in chemo patients all the time. It is an implanted central line...

I was thrown off my horse today

Kim, good for you. You are on your way to being a good horsewoman. You listened to what people had to tell you, you thought about it and are willing to make the changes necessary to have the relationship with your horse. The most important advise I can give you at this point is to pay close...

I was thrown off my horse today

I read this post yesterday and have been thinking about it overnight. I take it you just bought her 3 weeks ago? I am glad you are okay from your fall but on the other hand, your horse was screaming at you in the best language she knew, that she was not ready to be ridden. Communication...

    Scam???

The ad sounds borderline scam to me. The first thing I thought of when I read it is how uneducated and weird it sounds. Even if it was real would you want someone owning your horse that 1) only wants a cheap horse and 2) may not know enough to properly care for it.

    Very sad times

SaddleTrail you are absolutely right, I do have all those things. But isn't it a sad state of affairs for our country that as hard as we try to do the right thing, and as bad as our economy is, that people have their backs to the wall with few options.

    Very sad times

Terry was able to add me to his insurance from work but it wouldn't take effect until Sept.1 and I had my heart attack Aug 13. Thank you for all the advise and well wishes. My forum family has always been a source of support and good information and as they say, information gives you power...

    Very sad times

The only option the hospital gave me was $1500/month for 3 years. I sent in all the paperwork they wanted and still said it was incomplete. Didn't work with me at all. I have been sending $50 a month but they sent me straight to collections. The sad thing is I had turned in the paperwork for...

    Very sad times

You know the saying "What else could go wrong?" I stopped saying that a few months ago because just when I thought it couldn't get worse it just kept getting worse. Some of you may remember that back in August I had a heart attack. Since then times have really been tough financially but I...

    What is this?

The original picture looked like a sarcoid tumor like Margaret mentioned but cleaned up looks more like a wound. Hard to tell but I would get it checked out just in case.

    Miniature Horse Websites

I agree with all that has been said. I have spent the cold winter months cruising every website I could find and one thing that stands out is not having your sale horses one the sale page. Unless you say "check out mare page" or what ever page you have sale horses on, I just happened to check...

    Do you ever get discouraged

This goes back to my old "bag of tricks" theory on horse training. The difference between a trainer and us is that through the years trainers have developed a "bags of tricks" and reaches into the bag for something different if what they are trying with a horse doesn't work. We are limited by...

Divorce and MY horses, thank you all

I'm very sorry you have to go through this. On the light side, I read this whole thread and told Terry if he ever tried to do this he would be a dead man. He said he would only take what he came into this relationship with and I asked if he would take Bob the cat and his filly Bonnie. He...

    My friend's mare aborted tonight

How close was she to her foal date? Was it in the 6-8 week window before she was due? We have discussed this among ourselves and it is interesting to have it out on the forum where thousands of horses are available to track this and now people are aware and responding. We say it every year...

    Ordering vaccines

Just got an email yesterday and Jeffers is having 10% off all orders for 4 days so started getting my order ready. The promotion code is "sweet". I cross referenced AgriMed because they were cheaper last year and Holy Moly! they were $30 MORE per 10 dose vial for same thing. Jeffers doesn't...

UPDATED - ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!! additional information on page 3

You can request the police do a welfare check on someone if you think something might be wrong without being involved if that is an issue. We do this regularly in the medical field and sometimes the police seeing poor living conditions is what it takes to get the care needed for someone who can...

UPDATED - ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!! additional information on page 3

It is a very sad thing to happen and I am sure the power company needs to review their policies but it isn't fair that they take the brunt of the criticism. Where is this man's family? Who is checking that his welfair is seen to? It wasn't a money issue with the money laying around. For...

Who's horses have a choice on a snowy day?

I'm in Oregon and we do get some snow every year but mostly rain and mud. Every horse has the option of shelter but the nastier it is the more they seem to like it. They are usually big mud balls most of the winter. The big horse is a bit of a weinie and likes her blanket and shelter.

Do you do Line or In breeding?

If the breeding is successful it is called linebreeding. If it isn't successful it is called inbreeding.
