I am repairing a teddy bear. It belonged to my son; it's about 40 years old. The music box stopped working. He does not want the bear, so I thought I'd try my hand at repairing it. So far I have taken all the shredded paper stuffing out of it, turned it inside out and washed it. I washed it by soaking in Ivory. Very dirty! A few repairs, which I did using pantyhose. The eyes were crystalized and disintegrated so I put in new eyes. I'm stuffing it with raw cotton. Have to wait for the new music box to arrive to finish him. It's been rather fun, and I've learned a lot. He was in inexpensive bear (we hadn't much money and there were no doting grandparents to gift Gund or Stief). I gave him a new mouth.
These pictures show the kind of stuffing in him, and turned inside out to have repairs.
