I was surfing ebay today and came across the "Paddie" horse trailer divider. It's actually made to go in a big horse trailer, and connect to the dividers making the divider go to the floor. In theory, this seems like a great way to haul a mini in a biog horse trailer if you have the dividers that dont touch the floor, without having to pay for an expensive conversion, or its a trailer that you use for biggies too. I'm just a little worried that maybe the divider would swing and knock a mini down, etc.

I'll add a link to it on ebay, and one on the manufacturers website so you can take a look and let me know what you think. If you've used one before, please let me know if it worked great, or moved a lot and bumped into your minis. If this didnt swing around a lot, it would probably be a good buy for me, because right now I haul in different trailers, and also use them for big horses, so its not possible to build a more permanent mini divider.

I have a full size two horse trailer that I use for my minis. I had a welder weld two extra fittings on the divider post(where the divider is connected and supported in front). Now I can lift the divider out of the horse height fittings and put it in the lower ones for mini size. It works perfectly and allows the trailer to be for either size with little effort.

This is an awesome idea, I might see if we can do something like this with my 2-horse trailer, for now we've just added a piece of plywood and that works ok.

Right now to show I either haul with someone else, or borrow a trailer, so I cant have anything made for a trailer, because I don't always use the same trailer. I sold my trailer last summer and havent gotten a new one yet.

Well, with borrowing a trailer, the Paddie does sound like a good solution, although it also seems fairly expensive.

Like I said in my previous post, we put a sheet of plywood in my trailer; we just drilled a couple holes in the plywood and wired it to the center divider, I've hauled several minis in my trailer since adding the plywood and it seems to work just fine.

That's a great idea. I need to have my trailer outfitted so I can haul either my big horses or my minis. Do you have a photo of this? I think I have a good picture of what you mean but seeing it would help. Do you tie your minis? My trailer is an oversize straightload gooseneck, and the stalls are extra long (11 feet). I also have padded breast bars and butt bars so I guess I would have to have welds made for those, or at least the breastbars. Maybe I will email the manufacturer to see if they have any recommendations. They're heavily focused on safety (EquiSpirit).

Thanks.

Rebecca
