I love your boy! You've done such a GREAT job with him. He looks so well taken care of and has such a pretty, kind eye.

Seeing your pretty boy reminds me of a gelding we have at our farm. He doesn't belong to us, he belongs to a young man who lives with us. His name is Butterscotch and he's 22 years old. He's the "old style" of mini. He's built stockier than the ones you see mostly today.

Well, he used to drive, jump, do obstacle, showmanship and halter when Bobby (his owner) was a kid but Butterscotch is just hanging around and eating these days! Well, a few weeks ago Bobby was cleaning out his trailer and came across his old training cart and harness (his dad, Bob Roudebush Sr. used to be a pretty well-known pony trainer). So, he decides to hook ol' Butterscotch up to see if he still remembers what to do.

Keep in mind this horse hasn't pulled a cart in many years. So, Bob hooks him up and takes a spin around the pasture and it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! This old, sweet gelding that has done nothing but please people all his life got right back into it like he'd never missed a day. He may be "old style" but his movement is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I'm not kidding! I don't know the proper terms for it, but what I would call his "reach" was just amazing. Even though he's this overweight, stocky pony his headset was just beautiful! It was just gorgeous to watch!

I think your boy looks like he would be very pretty in harness also!

Thanks all. Given me a lot of confidence that one day in the future me and him will drive in the ring.

Tigga story is a sad one, he was put through the sales at 3 months old, the person who brought him thought it was funny to 'scare' him and his brother to make them rear up, tried riding them as yearlings and i when i got them from her i had major problems on my hand! Tigga was very poorly and had 3 months stright of weekly blood tests and anti-biotics, when he'd recovered i couldn't work out why his trust wasn't coming around, he would spook and bolt, then not be caught, so he saw 3 other vets who said he couldn't see properly, something wrong with his lens in his eyes so all he see's is blurred vision. I must of spent months and months sitting and talking to that pony to get him use to my voice and my smell so he'd trust me, the end result is what i've got today, a pony who will 'approuch' what i ask of him, you just have to take it very slowly.

Dispite his vision problems though he still rides, long reins, jumps & shows and you'd never know he had a disability!

And the only pony i've ever come across who can 'flutter' his eyes when he wants something off you! lol

The pic of him and me with all the red ribbons was a funny show, his disablity came up when we had to go into a covered arena, big white boards down the sides, the fan going and the light bouncing off everything in the ring! Spooked him a lot! But yet he still behaved for him bless him.
