I have dish network, and my phone line stays hooked up to it. I also have caller I.D. on my phone, so when the phone rings, the phone number flashes on top of my TV screen. Yesterday, a total of 10-11 times my phone rang, a number of 999-911-9999 showed up on my screen. I would not answer it. Looked too wierd!

Called local phone company asked where area code 999 was. She did not know. Looked in area codes in the phone book, no such area code. Do any of you know what kind of number this is? Is someone trying to block their number so I won't know who it is, or is it some international number? I answered the phone about a month or so back and it was a bill collector, wanting to know where a certain person was. They gave me as a credit reference on an application. I haven't seen that person for a number of years, do not know where they are, and certainly would not allow them to use me as a credit reference. Do you think it could have been that company trying to block their number? Or could it be a telemarketer trying to block their number? Thought I'd check with you guys, and ask if anone could possibly solve my mystery?

Hmmm, that does sound odd. I found this site when I googled the number. Also, this is the search that came up, sounds like it's some kind of emergency notification system.

CODERED pops up that way apparently. Looks like an emergency Notification number. Does your area use Code Red? On the information I read it looked like it was used in Florida.

I got a call from 999-999-9999 not too long ago, and it freaked me out. Turned out it was just Blockbuster notifing us we had a late movie.. I hope it is something as simple as this for you!

Betcha it was codered. Texarkana was making it's first test on it yesterday I heard on the news last night!

It would be great if they published these numbers somewhere, or at least put it on the news beforehand.

Next time, I'll know. Thanks for replying!
