I have my first ever mare due to foal in the near future. At the earliest breeding date she could be 292 days todays. She went in with the stallion from May 12 - July 30 last year and thats all the info I have for dates. This her 2nd foal.

I wanted to know how early have you have had a foal born that survived and was healthy ? I am getting nervous.

297 days is the earliest we have had, and that colt was born healthy & strong. Initially his front legs looked a little premature, but he had straightened up nicely by the second day.

Going by the last breeding dates I think 322 days was the shortest gest. here.

312 days. Big, strong filly

291. When Prin lifted her leg to see her baby, that filly (still with hind legs inside mom) said "oh boy! Milk!" And tried to nurse!

That filly jumped up and was not premie at all. I still have her. She's my mare Goldie!

Your mare at 292 days COULD deliver a live foal any time so please keep an eye on her. Our first live foal - Max - was born at 303 days and he was strong and healthy. Here is a link to a great article on foaling from someone with a lot of experience and lots to say about due dates: http://www.starsmini...oalarticle.html

I have one mare bred May 8 (and confirmed by US) and 2 more right behind her. They are being checked daily and are actually on cam now. I am a nervous wreck myself... Here is our cam link if anyone is interested. http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=ontarget

For now, all 3 mares share the stall until one starts showing progress and then we will separate them.

I think 305 has been our earliest but as others said they can go earlier. Hopefully she will hold out longer for you!

Our earliest, by FAR, was 283 days and she was very much a premie. She survived, but it wasn't easy on her, us or her dam. She went on a earn a Top Ten at AMHR Nationals in halter.

She's five this year and a total boss! She's about 27" (maybe a tad more) tall and thinks she runs the place. I recently had a buyer here to pick up another horse and they tried to pry her outta my hands! No dice! She's a lifer here.

Good luck with your mare! Please keep a close eye on her as she could technically foal any time now.

Yes Diane, I do plan to post there as soon as one of the mares start showing any changes or this weekend when Toffee hits 300 days, whichever happens first. BTW, they aren't all CONFINED to one stall - the 3 have access to the stall and an overhang area outside the stall plus turnout area for now. For a lot of the time the stall will be empty but sometimes you can see all 3 dozing in there - or more likely peeing and pooping!

I have an older mare that aloways delivers between 305 and 310 days, and she's sneaky too. I have never caught her in first stage labor, and even under camera, I've never seen her deliver. It's like one minute shes eating and the next she's delivering and by the time I get to barn it is all done! She is a AMHR Produce of Dam Champion and the Dam of my heart horse and multi Champion mare. When this mare was born, I feed her dam, the went out to put her in her stall to get under the camera, and there was a foal just coming out fo the sack. The next one I went to feed her in the morning and the foal was under the hay feeder. Her last foal, she was in the stall under camera and hid in the corner, I went to the barn to see what was going on and arrived just in time to see the little guy laying there, hind legs still in, but Mom was already getting up to lick him. God Bless the broodmares.

My records are, early as 308 days and as late as 345 days. Average here has been 315-320. Good Luck!

310 days for me was the earliest with a strong healthy foal.

Oh my gosh ! Those are some early dates. Tonight I will start putting her in. My foaling kit is almost ready so I have some shopping to do today !! I will read those articles posted.

So today she is 293 and that is if she was bred and took the first day she went in with the stallion.

Thank you everyone for your caring and information.

308 days was my earliest and 362 days my latest.
