I feel pretty sure there is certainly a 'catch' to getting paid for taking a survey. Has anyone on here done that before. I goggled 'free stuf' and there are several places who "say" they will pay $300 for you to take a 15 minute survey, on line.

What's the catch?

I think it is a scam because one of the first things they will ask for is your email addy...well, they then can sell it to business people and before you know it you have a bunch of junk mail comint to you

Not a good thing for the person taking the survey.

In the early days of having my computer, about seven or eight years ago, a friend of mine told me about these surveys and that she did a lot of them all the time. She did actually get paid a few bucks here and there, so I thought I'd give it a go, too, just for fun. Sure enough, I got a cheque in the mail one day for $15.00 US. We had a little giggle over it, but the novelty of the surveys soon wore off and I don't bother with them anymore.

This same friend also does a lot of "secret shopper" work and gets paid reasonably well for that. She's single, no kids, no horses, nothing besides her regular day job so she has lots of time to devote to it. Just do a search for Secret Shoppers if it tickles your fancy.

I have done this in person though not online.. went to a juice tasting thing and made 100 bucks for about 4 hours.. surveyed new kids toys got paid for that but like i said never anything online

I do surveys and product tests all the time. You CAN make money doing them for reputable companies.... if by "make money" you mean $2 to $4 every 10th or 12th survey. I do it because I have fun doing surveys and testing things. I recently got to test and keep a plug in air freshener and a water filter that hooks on my faucet. The surveys that claim to pay you $300 or give you a $1000 plasma screen tv are a scam. They have so many loop holes and things you have to do to qualify that you will probably never be able to get that big reward. And some of these $2 and $4 surveys take 45 minutes to fill out. Unless you are weird in the head like me and actually enjoy doing surveys it really isn;t worth it.

 When I was first disabled I did the survey thing on line. It helped fill the long hours and once in a while I'd even get something good out of it. [A gift certificate for a meal or a t-shirt.] Never anything big, then I found the forum and that helped fill my time. I still do one every once in a while because I like to do them.

My sister in law does make about $60 a month in gift certificates and coupons but she does a lot more surveys then I do. I do about 1 hour a day and she does about 4 hours a day. I get sick of it after a while, I don't know how she can do them for that long.

I occasionally take surveys for AOL...getting 2-4 bucks a time...credited to my aol acct.

I don't mind taking them in my bordom time.

Many times you get rejected due to not qualifing with the first few Q's.

Some of the online surveys are legit - I've been doing some for a number of years. A good one that I've belonged to for a long time is:

You need to qualify for the survey but if you do, they are prompt at paying.

Another good freebie site is:

It's forum formatted and I've found some great stuff there!

Thanks for this info. I need cash in a really bad way. Any little bit helps. Anybody got some extra cash laying around that they don't need?
