The beautiful (

) Delilah is having surgery as I type this to remove whatever is causing her problems with her foot. The vet is sure there is something in it, like a thorn, that just won't come out. She has been on antibiotics for almost 2 weeks, and I've been soaking it 3-4 times a day with no results. Had to miss a show last weekend because she was soo lame....

So it's not a major surgery, but I hate them going under anesthesia for ANY reason.....

Thanks

Best wishes for your dear little Delilah. I'm sure she'll come through it like the champion that she is!

Sending prayers for little Delilah for a complete recovery.

Thanks!!

Just called the clinic and they found 2 pieces of black foreign objects, which the vet thinks was a thorn or something similar. She came through it ok, but is very groggy. Have to leave in about a half hour to go and get her!!!

Good news she did well in the surgery. Now she can come home and rehabilitate!

I'm glad I just read this and that she is home safe and sound. (Now try to keep her calm and quiet

oh kathryn, this is my first visit to the forum today and i'm SO glad to know all went well!! i guess i don't have to tell you to spoil her rotten. a little cup of 'nilla ice cream is just what the doctor would order.

Finally got her home. She had to spend a few hours at my sister's in a crate (which was probably a good thing anyway) while I was at a Christmas concert. Then drove home through a wicked snow storm....man, you'd think the plows would have been out!!!!

Now Delilah is curled up sound asleep...after Lainey was barking at her to play!! She's already tried to rip the bandage off....might need more bitter apple

...just hoping I don't have to get a cone for her if I can help it...and hope it heals up ok now. The vet said it would be at least 4 more weeks

so looks like she's out of showing at the next show I was going to...oh well, just as long as she gets better that's all I care about.

glad to here she's home with you. we had a wicked storm yesterday, took me an hour to get home and usually, that's a 20 minute drive. had to stop 3 times to scrape ice off my windshield.

kathryn, we have prickly pear cactus out here. i am always amazed at how the dogs can walk through a patch of that stuff and never seem to mind it. the only thorns i've ever pulled out have been the ones that end up in MY feet!

I am so glad she is ok. Hope she doesn't need a cone, those are such a pain. Good luck keeping her quiet!

Lily sez for you to get a blankie like her mom has, down with fleece liner from Eddie Bauer. She actually sits and stares at it, then me, then doggy groan. The second it is on me and the foot rest is up, so is she and she would sleep there all day if she could. Of course, you wouldn't get much done that way.

Here she is sporting her purdy bandage last night.

Bitter apple seems to be working so far. She started at it again this morning, so I sprayed some on, and she hasn't touched it since. Lainey is desperately trying to get her to play with her!! She plays a bit, but she is keeping pretty quiet herself. Give her a couple of days, then I'll have to start keeping them more separate so she stays quieter! Lainey & Jane came with me to the horse barn this morning, so Delilah could just hang out and not be bugged.

Lily sounds like her sisters!!

All I have to do is sit on the couch and I have Jane & Delilah on me....if by chance I lie down before they get there, they snuggle in around me! But usually I don't get the chance to pull a blanket over me before they are there!
