Not me!

I have visions of foaling in January when it's freezing out there.

If our roads become iced over, I can't get a vet in here in an emergency situatioin so I'm waiting for spring time.

Thinking April would be good to give me a March baby. :517:

Nick's about ready to pop his cork!

He's tired of waiting.

We don't start breeding till the end of March or sometimes later in April. My husband wants those Feb. babies, I like the early spring babies so guess who sits out in the barn during the winter months on watch

Not me, not this year! I've had foals in January and February before with no problems at all (and I loved having early foals!), but we are moving to a place that is colder than here, so especially for the first year there I want to wait for warmer weather for foals to arrive. All of my currently-expecting mares are due around the end of March or the first of April this year, and that sounds like good timing to me right now.

Breeding????? :new_shocked: Heck NO! We still have the buns still in the oven!

And once those timers go off, we aren't planning on repeating the process on many of our girls this year.

My mares are still preggers! They'll be due mid-April to mid-May. I may even breed later this year since we always have a big show end of April just when I'm worried about mares due.....so I think I'm shooting for May babies next year. Though seeing all these cute foals already born makes me anxious for mine!

Nope! I'm going to get my 2 mares vet checked in March/April, and if all looks good, then I'll breed them beginning May.

Very soon, if it's alright w/Kim to bring Cherry Bomb and little Kyan to Falcon. I can't wait for another early baby. Hopefully we're done w/the extreme winters for a while, but if not, I will find a way to manage.

Going to be cool to have a grown up weanie that will be weanable in June!

Not me, not yet. I put my stallion with the mares on March 27 last year and our first foal was born February 16. The weather this last week reminds me it is too early. No visitation rights before the first of April at the very earliest this year. Maiden mares will be later than that.

Seeing all the early foals posted on here always makes me crazy for foals to begin arriving, BUT not crazy enough to want Feb, or March foals (although I do have one due mid-March this year... it was an over anxious stallion, and a fence that wasn't as sturdy as I thought it was that brought that on. LOL). I prefer April/May babies. Not so much because it's necessarily better for them. It's better for meeeeeeeeeeee.

Its so cold and miserable here at the moment the mares dont WANT to be covered  I like the grass to have started growing for the mares to have for their milk so dont cover till end of April onwards.

Well being in the warmer climate of Arizona where we are peaking in the 90's durring the day, we finally have a bred mare for a mid December birth.. It has been very warm this last winter and the mares are cycling strong and early..

Uno has come south. We are breeding, two of Cheryls mares at least maybe more in the next couple of months, Image we will start now since she is a chronic twinner and we can catch that early, Image of Halves her maternal half sister is being bred now..... Sillouette looks like she isnt going to foal till april so that decides that , Bailey is due May 15th and Carbon not till end of June. Two mares are going to Doc Taylors in May to be bred to Steel for next year.

My mares don't seem to really cycle well until late May, which suits me just fine for April and May babies.

No way, I learned my lesson with my foal this month. Been way too cold.

Most are still cooking till April, but I'll start then too.

yup yup, they are having a ball out there. I have several open mares due to hurricane Rita, so they are breeding away!!! That darn stallion is so tired, he hides from them, LOL

January babies in Ohio  ---------nope not for us - not even February babies  - My ideal foaling months are April and May - green grass, no flys, and cool nights with warmer days - perfect

I've already told the boys, they will see enough action in couple of months to last them all year :bgrin

We'll start breeding when our 3 yr olds and open mares cycle next time. I've been abt to croak to start all month but made myself wait til the end of February.

I start breeding in March - just brought a couple of mares up to start checking them. I do have one 30 days + in foal, only because she was with the stallion all fall/winter to keep him company. Thank goodness he waited as long as he did - we should have a January baby and not December lol. My preference for foaling is no earlier than March, butI don't always get to call the shots with these mares.

Since both my girls are open this year, we could probably breed for early babies, and would, but since we are hopefully moving to Tennessee later this year, I really don't want any real early babies. Both the girls are going out for their men this year. One will be staying here in Florida, one will be going to Tennessee - if all goes as planned. I can't wait. We have NO babies this year, and last year the only one we had was little Dawn, my broken leg spoiled brat. I'm missing babies - just may have to buy something, although I have to admit I have my hands full trying to get ready to sell this house and move.

Good luck everyone - hope we all have a great foaling season in 2007.
