We are out in the boonies here in Texas, and we have AOL dial up. Talk about snail mail! I have to just delete some of the pictures and etc I get in my e-mail because it takes too long to download them. I have tried to send a few pictures, but they take sooooo long, I just forget it! Heard about this high speed satellite company that installs a dish on your house, and is always on and no waiting for dial up and etc. The name of the company is Wild Blue? Do any of you have it, or have you heard anything about it? If so, please let me know if you like or dislike it, and does it work as well as they say?

Never heard of them. In Sulphur Springs area we have peoples communication. It works great and service is good.

May, I am not a big help

If you have any options at all, avoid satellite internet. IT is NOT that fast (lots faster than crappy dialup, though), and it is very unreliable. Direcway, our provider, has HORRIBLE customer service, it has taken me about four months to get an issue resolved recently.

Check into your options before you decide on satellite for sure. AOL is NOT a good provider, but if you have other options, there may be something better for you.

Yes Wild Blue is good.. I do not have it., But I know the town 9 miles from me there is quite a few people now getting this ISP High Speed Provider.. I myself looked into this Company a few years ago as they were just starting up,~! But then my own phone company went to DSL so that is what I am on.. But I sure would get Wild Blue before going to Direct tv service one.

Thanks for the answers, guess we'll just have to do some more checking into other options. If we like the answers from Wild Blue, Jerry may become a distributor. He's a techie, and is retired. I say that he's retired while he is now planning I don't know how many miles of fence, barn, and run in sheds!

I'd recommend considering them.....

We just got Wild Blue a couple of months ago. I'd never heard of it either. So far we are very happy. We live in a metro area, but rural enough that we could only get dial up at our house which was HORRIBLE.

We ended up having them network all of our computers so now everyone in the house has there own wireless internet plus my husband can use it on his laptop for work. We had a lot more done than we originally planned and they gave us a good deal on the package price. The networking was pretty easy too. One receiver on the main computer, and little attachments to all the others. They also set us up with a new virus protection program that they had for free.

We have not had any problems and are very happy with it. Customer service has been good - very small townish/rural and personalized. When we've had questions or needed help they were very easy to work with.

I was a little surprised at the size of the dish though, twice the size of the one we have for DirectTV and after looking around, the guy ended up needing to attach it to the leg of the deck behind our house for the best signal. Kind of a weird location.

We did look into using DirectTV since we already had it and it was more than DOUBLE the price of Wild Blue.
