*gag* i can totally relate. I have a very hard time touching dead/raw meat (heck it grosses me out to have to deal with dead animals and stuff too). It ALL smells even "good" meat when it's raw. it's cold and slimey and icky. Now don't get me wrong..i LOVE a big old steak, burger ect but raw.. ICK ICK *GAG*. i can relate tot he smell of the turkey too. I don't like the smell even though it's not rotten bad..it's just that raw dead smell. .... Lol i really should become a vegitatrian to never have to touch/smell it again raw..lol I'm not a big bird fan dead or alive. I can eat it but am not a fan of turkey at all or even chicken unless it's processed certain ways.

Now my idea of a perfect Thanksgiving or Christmas/EAster meal would be CHINESE food..lol yum yum.
LOL someone after my own heart

I don't think your turkey should have smelled that way at all.

Something must have happened and it went off. Sometimes frozen food partially thaws while being shipped to the supermarket and we wind up paying the price for something which is not good (or good for us.)

I am suspicious of fish. If fish smells the least bad, I throw it out or don't buy it at the fishmarket.Yuck.

My nose is picky (no, not nose-picker) so I throw away things, also, if it doesn't smell right.

Hope your holiday was healthy and good!

Have to admit I cheated this year LOL and let Honey Baked Hams do the whole thing.

We generally rotate with my sister in law, she cooks or I cook and everyone brings sides. Everyone was going different directions this year, it's been a stressful month and I just didn't feel like cooking the bird.....I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was! Smoked turkey was great, sweet potatoes, dressing, gravy, pie..... I picked it up on Monday, stuck it in the oven to warm on Thursday and we were good to go! I won't do it every year (maybe) but it's a good alternative to know about.
