With showing, clipping is the hardest for me, not because I can't,,,,,,,time comes into play. Wanting to get it done on the right day for a certain horses color,,,,but due to work, becomes a problem.

Is there such a person who just goes around and clips? I know some that will do so at shows, I guess I am talking more about going around to farms and do several for that farm.

Is this person out there, have you heard of anyone doing it?

I have told my daughter she should do this. She can clip a horse so beautifully and being 22 she could enjoy traveling. She also teaches them to drive and could most likely do that as well but she doesn't listen.

I went to an Andis clinic at the horse expo in Albany, OR. The clinician was a gal who made her living in Florida and East Coast by clipping hunter/jumpers and dressage horses. She was an expert in every aspect. I think this is a career waiting to happen for someone who has good clippers, a strong back and wanted to travel around to horse farms. As you got further into it you could have a lift made for these minis to make the job easier.

I personally would love to do this, but I dont see there being much of a need in my area

Same with me, I truly live for the day I can finally go outside and shave down the mini's! Unfortunately my fun day is short lived since I have so few but I sure would have a hay day clipping someone elses mini's! I have offered to help my friend, we have a photoshoot set up together, me with my 4 mini's and her with her 20+! I told her no sweat on the clipping, i'll be there ready with my clippers!

: clipping!

I used to. Big horses though. I pulled and braided manes, clipped, and cleaned sheathes... I made good money at it too. If you have a large boarding stable around call and see if they have anyone who does this, most of the stables I worked at had someone who did.

I LOVE clipping mine, its just that I dont have the greatest pair of clippers, so usually after 2 horses, my blades have to be resharpened. I REALLY enjoy clipping the paints and appies, to see new spots re-appearing from the winter coat.

Let me know when you find this person--It takes me a min. of 2 1/2 hours to clip a horse and maybe longer depending on the horse. I would gladly pay someone to do this!!! :new_shocked:

I have to clip three next week in prep for a show and not looking forward to it!! Just getting too old I guess. I would love to pay someone to do it!! I think I'm going to teach my niece this year but that only helps while she's out of school. Next week I'm on my own.

Hi all-

We are very fortunate her in central & SW Florida :aktion033: to have Brooke Sheridan to clip our horses. She always does mine for the shows, and once or twice a year I have her do my mares. Her mom is Robin Cole - our diet genius here on the Forum. Not only does Brooke do a beautiful show clip, she is a lot of fun to be around.

She does go to Nationals and Worlds each year as she has a very big following. You might want to get in touch with her.

She, along with her mom, do Clips & Pics, as Robin is a very good photograper too.

Yes, we are very lucky.

I go around to farms and clip. Unfortunately, I am located in FL, which is a tad far from most of you!

i telephoned my local riding school, and asked who clipped there horses, they put my in touch with a lovley girl, she came out and clips mine every year for there first clip.i pay her $120 for the two, i mostly need to to help me! as my boy is a nightmare at getting his legs done,

last year i dropped my clippers into a bucket of water, and promtly without thinking went in after them!

i would love to do it professionally..but i don't think there's much call for it here in Maine! I used to braid/groom professionally when i lived in Kentucky and got paid pretty well for doing it and tried to follow up when i moved back home to maine but never got much intrest. hehe i'd love to travel all over to clip if i got enough farms heck i'd travel all over from state to state..LOL

There are many people in our area (Southern California) who do clipping and braiding. Check with some local show barns, especially the hunter/English barns. Depending on where you live they may be able to refer you to someone really good. When I used to board my full-size horses at training barns there was always someone who would clip or braid. (Of course we are in a suburban area with lots of people.)

Good luck finding someone!

Well, I must admit I am spoiled. I have a very wonderful lady that does all of my clipping for me, and is very reasonably priced. She clips all 5 before every show. This keeps me from having to take extra time off work. She is also available at most Texas shows, Tunica, and every year at Nationals. She stayed very busy last year. If interested, you might want to book with her now. I totally trust her to do a wonderful job. Her email addy is in my signature.
