This is a rescue that as of today CMHR will be taking care of financially.

Traceracer, from IN has taken her in for care and rescued her from a terrible situation.

We are just thankful they got to this wonderful little mare in time.

Much care needed a head for her.

This is why CMHR needs your help. Because there are more of "Phoebes" out there, waiting for someone to rescue them.

Please visit the "Christmas in July sale" thread (has over fifteen hundred views) here on the main forum for more information on how you can help Phoebe and others just like her.

Read more of her story on the Rescue Forum.

Send good thoughts her way!!

Thanks to ALL for all they have given!

:new_shocked: The picture more than took my breath, it made my heart jump into my mouth. That poor mare, I wish I was close enough to give her a hug, how can people be so cruel? Thank God you have her in rescue now, hopefully she will be able to recover with some loving kindness which I am sure she is getting now. Bless you CMHR :aktion033: :aktion033:

I just about fell over when I saw what it was. I was looking at the thin body condition first, thinking "that's not SO bad" but then I saw the hooves!!!

GRrrr. I'd love to make those people walk around on high heels in lava rock for months on end. Wonder how their tendons and soles would feel, not to mention all their joints and backs...*sigh* I think the reason that mare looks so different physically is the stress this has put on her.

So tiring...I wish I understood WHY. Thankfully someone is willing and able to help her out.

OH MY GOSH! Her poor feet..oh my gosh I've never seen feet like that! Poor baby

! Please keep us updated on her, she looks like a beautiful mare.

God bless you for being there for her. Her life has improved 100% just by being in someone else's care. I pray that you can continue to improve her life.

Hugs and prayers going her way.

Do you suppose people just don't KNOW??? I can't imagine any other reason something like that could happen.

I'm putting my donation in the mail on Monday. Good job guys!!!!!

: My heart breaks for her. Rescues are blessings. Please keep us updated on her...

I'm so glad she's in good hands now!

I posted this on the rescue forum, but will post it here as well.

My mare Ellie's back hooves were exactly this same way when we rescued her from Iowa 3 years ago. I really think people just don't care. The farm where I got Ellie sold out last year and they sent me pictures of the rest of the horses to see if I was interested and all of their hooves were starting to look like Ellie's did! It was just sickening, plus they wanted loads of money for them that I didn't have, so there was nothing I could do.

Holy Cow, I have NEVER seen such horrificly grown-out hooves in my life! It's surely going to take months, if not years, of careful farrier work to get her feet back to a semblance of "normal", poor mare!

kudos to CMHR for saving her!

Sadly I have seen feet like that all too often

Some of the olod farmers don't look the their ponies' feet at all. ON a brighter note, one we rescued a few years back with worse feet than that made a full recovery with carefull trimming. IT took well over 12 months though.

The poor thing! As horrendous as her hooves already were, I don't even want to think how much worse she could've gotten. Thank God for CMHR!

Oh yes, I am with Wally...I have seen this several times...my biggest pet peeve.!! So many breeders NEVER do their pasture horses feet.!!! There is NO excuse for letting an animal get in that condition. We bought one once like that...you have to take a hacksaw and litterly saw that off., and hope the coffin bone is okay. I am glad you have her and can hopefully get that poor horse some relief soon...you can see the sadness in her.

Pitiful.!

My grandfather bought a pony when I was really young. Her hooves looked just like this mares. It was really sad. I don't understand how any of them could be treated this way.

OMG poor mare. wow how can hooves even grow that long! I want to just come give her a hug and kiss and assure her shes in good good hands now.
