Nope nothin here. Like I said it probably won't be out til Nationals. I'm sure we can find a copy somewhere in Tulsa lol.
Atleast they have a non-member fee. They just changed that this year. Past couple of years you had to be a member to do any registry work, obviously that wasn't working for them.I have gotten nothing.. nada.. No Journal here. I debated about renewing my membership, but needed to do some transfer and other paperwork on one of my minis earlier this year. The price of a non-member transaction was so high it paid to just join and I figured that the membership would come with some interesting reading so I sent in the fee. There should be a way for back yard pet type non breeder people to do a transfer without it costing an arm and leg. When you wrench the joiners fee out of people with the promise of the "journal" , then you should send it to them.
Money is tight here and this has been a disappointing and expensive experience for me.
Agreed, not all of us "need" a breed magazine, or want it...and the high membership fees are why I won't get it... Should they change this, at last they would get more $$ in the way of memberships.what I have been saying for sometime they need to make it available for members to have a choice to pay membership without receiving the Journal.
AMHA did have the membership and magazine separate until just a few years ago. I think I still have a copy of my letter I sent to the Association when they decided to "make it easier" for us members by combining the two; in effect making it almost $100 at the time, for us in Canada. (I also think it had a huge impact in putting the Miniature Horse Voice out of business.) I did receive a nice letter from the Association telling me that my letter was read to the BOD, and dismissed.AMHA I wish would do the same thing but I love their World magazine. But I still think they can get more new members if they do the same offer. Especially since you have to become a member to do any registry work.
I knew that I guess I should have worded it better. I was just giving an example of what we chould pay if we chose not to receive the Journal.Just a small correction JMS. This is from the AMHR website "Subscription Info
Subscription costs are $30.00 per year for non-members of the ASPC/AMHR, or the $65.00 membership fee." For our membership fee of $65 we receive the Journal, whether we want it or not.
So, just my opinion, I would like the option of taking or not taking the Journal. I hate receiving outdated news when the issues are so late!
Just realized this has changed. The new work order says "All fees listed are doubled for non-members". Still, if you are going to register three foals and bring one permanent, it is cheaper to be a member.Still no Journal here in Florida. But membership IS necessary to keep registering horses, so until they're separate fees, we're stuck.
