Nope nothin here. Like I said it probably won't be out til Nationals. I'm sure we can find a copy somewhere in Tulsa lol.

The April/May edition is the one showing on the web site online version. I have a feeling that those that said they got the June/July issue really just got the April/May and are thinking it was the later one BECAUSE IT IS SO LATE!!! It is honestly getting to be very annoying. We have paid for a regular publication. If it is not getting sent out, then lower our member cost! I feel the World magazine is SO much better anyway. Good articles in addition to all the pretty pictures. The Journal doesn't seem to have many, if any, educational articles. Just sayin'.

I have gotten nothing.. nada.. No Journal here. I debated about renewing my membership, but needed to do some transfer and other paperwork on one of my minis earlier this year. The price of a non-member transaction was so high it paid to just join and I figured that the membership would come with some interesting reading so I sent in the fee. There should be a way for back yard pet type non breeder people to do a transfer without it costing an arm and leg. When you wrench the joiners fee out of people with the promise of the "journal" , then you should send it to them.

Money is tight here and this has been a disappointing and expensive experience for me.

Atleast they have a non-member fee. They just changed that this year. Past couple of years you had to be a member to do any registry work, obviously that wasn't working for them.

I agree ClickMini. Or what I have been saying for sometime they need to make it available for members to have a choice to pay membership without receiving the Journal. You see that with so many other breed associations they make it available to their members to receive their breeders magazine or not. Also our fees would be just the same as the other breed associations if you subtract the subscription fee for the Journal then the membership would be around $30.

Think about how many new members AMHR can get if they would do this offer. And maybe perhaps it would be a incentive to AMHR to make their Journal better and sent out fast to get people wanting the Journal. Cause right now I could care less about the Journal, I would only be interested in 1 issue and thats the National issue.

AMHA I wish would do the same thing but I love their World magazine. But I still think they can get more new members if they do the same offer. Especially since you have to become a member to do any registry work.

Agreed, not all of us "need" a breed magazine, or want it...and the high membership fees are why I won't get it... Should they change this, at last they would get more $$ in the way of memberships.

AMHA did have the membership and magazine separate until just a few years ago. I think I still have a copy of my letter I sent to the Association when they decided to "make it easier" for us members by combining the two; in effect making it almost $100 at the time, for us in Canada. (I also think it had a huge impact in putting the Miniature Horse Voice out of business.) I did receive a nice letter from the Association telling me that my letter was read to the BOD, and dismissed.

Thing is, the cost to me of the MHW, as a lifetime member, is pretty close to the cost of yearly membership including the MHW...so lifetime membership doesn't count for much as far as getting the MHW is concerned. A full membership including MHW, is $75, and just the MHW, is $60. Kind of silly, when you consider that makes the membership "worth" only $15. That said, I would love to receive it, just not at that cost.

I didn't realize the World cost that much. I had to even double check that one and it says to receive the World first class subscription rate is $55. So if you put it that way that is a really good deal.

Ok AMHR to those who don't know.

Membership fee: $65

Subscription for the Journal: $30

If we had a choice to pick if we want to receive the Journal or not: $35

I imagine the price would go up a lil bit but I still think it will bring in new members.

Just a small correction JMS. This is from the AMHR website "Subscription Info

Subscription costs are $30.00 per year for non-members of the ASPC/AMHR, or the $65.00 membership fee." For our membership fee of $65 we receive the Journal, whether we want it or not.

So, just my opinion, I would like the option of taking or not taking the Journal. I hate receiving outdated news when the issues are so late!

Nope, no June/July issue here yet either.......

I knew that I guess I should have worded it better. I was just giving an example of what we chould pay if we chose not to receive the Journal.

Just a thought....be careful what you wish for. I have feeling if they removed the journal from membership fee that they would then BOTH go UP. It's too bad about the other magazine going under as it leaves little for those of us that enjoy the pictures and articles.

I would opt to keep getting the Journal with my membership. I dropped the World long ago because the subscription price (I never needed or bothered with a membership) wasn't worth it to me for all the pretty pictures and the few articles which never really had anything to them. I never did subscribe to the Showcase but did get a gift subscription for one year. I was enjoying the Vern Brewer articles and always liked the 'from my back door' articles/photos but otherwise I wasn't enthused enough to buy a subscription. With the Journal, I like reading the news columns in it--the registry stuff, the area news, and I like having the list of officials right there in any issue that I happen to have handy. I have never wished that I didn't have to get the Journal as part of my membership.

I am told that the June/July issue has been at the printers for awhile and should have been mailed by now...that's being looked into because people should have received their magazines by now. The Aug/Sept issue is being set up--a few days behind schedule, but not too bad I'd say. I've also been told that Heidi (I think that's her name?) has been very busy catching up on the backlog of things that haven't been getting done since Dawn (again, is that the right name?) left. Once everything is caught up, with Heidi picking up a lot of the extra work that has fallen on Amy for the past two years, it would seem likely that the magazine will be able to stay on schedule again.

Still no Journal here in Florida. But membership IS necessary to keep registering horses, so until they're separate fees, we're stuck.
Just realized this has changed. The new work order says "All fees listed are doubled for non-members". Still, if you are going to register three foals and bring one permanent, it is cheaper to be a member.

Took how many months to get the April/May issue??? But it sure didn't take them long to call about billing my credit card when it did come out. They had left a message on the phone while I was out of town, so it was a few days before I could call them back. Well, they called and left another message. They get awful impatient for the money, but we are supposed to sit here patiently waiting on our Journal and to see the ads that we pay good money for that don't come out till MONTHS later than they were supposed to.

I do have to say there was a 5% discount on the invoice because of the lateness!!! I would have rather had my ad seen in a timely manner though.

I can't remember the last time we got a journal. I'm not sure what is going on, talked to a friend Friday and she said she got a refund for the last couple that haven't made it to her.
