Merry Beth has been sitting around here for years like everyone else doing nothing.

Every year I procrastinate and say I'll take her to a show and never do. Since we aren't breeding anyone again this year I finally bit the bullet and let her go to the Shelbyville show and just try it one time and see if she liked it.

Here she is styling her new sheet and matching halter that she just had to have. First horse in the barn to do mint green. She's a total princess.

Poor little thing was scared to death nervous and spooking at everything, so non-horsey Hus got involved and took her walking all over the place before her class and telling people it was his horse......hmmmm.

Here she is with our good friend Dan from Amazing Grace who showed her. She's not real good at being still but she tried. She was still scared but did good and won a 2nd place and some 1st places but was very glad to get back home to her buddies. I think she prefers to stay home and do nothing.

What a pretty girl! Are you going to give it another go or let her be a stay-at-home horse?

Marty, I always knew she was a pretty mare, but WOW I didnt expect her to clean up that well. Even when prepared at home the calmest horses can get exciteable at shows. theres just so much going on there that cant be replicated at home. I would probably try another go with her, shes really a looker.

Marty, she looks very nice! I especially love her show sheet and coordinating halter picture

Hey Marty...I recognize that horse!!! Merry Beth was very pretty and by the time I got to meet her she must have calmed down, because I don't remember her being all that frantic.

Congrats on your wins... Maybe next time we'll see you at the end of the lead?!?!

ETA: You forgot to mention that some of those firsts and seconds were actually grands and reserves!!!

Congrats on your wins how exciting. I really like that sheet what brand and where did you get it?

Ok yalls are being way too kind I'll blush and then get a big head. Steph, I was holding my breath like you can't imagine while she was in the ring just waiting for an explosion. This is a mountain pasture pet that I do nothing with like the rest of them but groom and play with no training and a last minute decision. It was Dan's touch because he has a calming way about him. YOU are the one that has a super gorgeous to die for mare! Congrats on you!

For all you mint green people oh my gosh are we starting a pastel trend here? Do it, do it, do it! Matching scrunchies can be found in Walmart! I don't want to get in trouble for soliciting here but its a tack shop on a Mountain in the Ozarks of Arkansas and they has all kinds of pastels going on there. Halter was too big so they easily exchanged size for me and they are adjustable too. Nice! I saw a mint green mesh fly sheet there too that Merry Beth just says she has to have to complete her ensemble. Think it has a fly mask to match. The power blue stuff is really pretty too. They'll give you a free miniature fly swatter that is so funny......its so tiny it won't hurt a fly but its fun to smack the smart mouth son on the head with!

I'd love to get Brite Star or Noelle out too if they don't sell. They aren't too shabby!

Oh Marty I am so happy you got this mare out to show...she is just gorgeous... But come on you have to spill it. tell us about these grand and reserves..Hehe..you know inquiring minds want to hear all about it.. hehe

She is lovely and did very well it seems for a stay at home horse.Congrats on your ribbons.

Marty, I rarely log in these days, since my computer is apparently allergic to LB cookies, but after viewing this post I HAD to...

First of all, I would never lie or exaggerate -- I simply would not post if I didn't mean what I'm about to say.

Merry Beth is stunningly gorgeous! She looks like a much taller horse, and her balance and refinement are my very definition of the ideal horse. She may have been terribly nervous, but in the ring she looks poised and downright regal.

She did herself (and you) PROUD, placing so well despite her nerves. I bet if she went out again the nerves would be gone, especially knowing her mommy would be right there to greet her after her classes and that her buddies would be waiting to welcome her at home.

My eyes welled up reading about your husband taking such pride in showing her off to everyone. These guys try to be tough and unemotional, but then the truth comes out!

Whether you ever show her again or just keep her at home to be your little love girl, she is and will always be a true winner. She knows her job and she does it well.

Thanks for sharing her photos and your account with us -- you made my day!
