It has been over 7 months since we had to step back and focus on us and our animals. Last night we were hit with a second major hurricane In 53 days and the 4th one in 2 years. FEMA, SBA, USDA, banks and lenders have all declined help because we are a non-profit and 50% of our income is my disability from the VA. In the last few months we have taken in 48 animals and found them homes. Everything from reptiles, snakes, horses, pigs, and cats and all of them from county or national shelters that could not or would not house them. They are well funded with endowments, grants, government programs and donors. This has been emotionally and financially draining. Please support your local rescue, especially the small "mom and pop" 501c3s. If you would spread this message it would be greatly appreciated! If you can help go to our site at www.windsoragriculturalcenter.org and hit the donate button. Thank you and we will provide updates.
I hope you all are alright. Watching Helene come in on video is scary. I can't imagine being in it's path. Prayers to stay safe.
How frustrating to hit block walls. You are doing wonders for the animals. I love what you have been trying to accomplish. The sets backs have not stopped you. Thanks for your update. I will pass you non profit name on when I can. Keeping it in my contacts.

The river at our farm has risen 17 feet and is expected to go up another 4 feet. The greenhouse is not on the water and is normally 20 feet above the river and is 100 years away. Our driveway is currently 5 feet under water.

Was that a picture of damage inside your house? Are you all ok? Sounds like no way in or out of your property. I can't imagine what you are going through. Asking for prayers of help for you.

Yes, a tree came through the roof. Our house and horses, donkey, pigs, snakes, gator, chickens and cats are in Gainesville, and our farm with our hydroponics, test crops, tilapia, greenhouse and workshop are 90 minutes south in Brooksville. We were told today that because of the water level it could be 6 months to get power back. There are only 2 of us on a transformer that is currently 7 feet under water and the trees took out the pole that supplies it. We had a solar farm that provided backup power but the battery bank is also 7 feet under water near the transformer. We had a hurricane hit the farm in August of 2023 and SBA approved money for repairs in 2 weeks but it took 9 months to get the funds. We just finished repairs in July, 5 weeks before the first of the 3 hurricanes came through year. I went through hurricane Andrew in 92 and had no power or water for 4 months. At least our house has power.
