You have come to the right place for sure! Everyone on here is so helpful!
Thank you! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about getting a mini... and I had no idea if she was a good mini or not... having been involved in rescue for quite a while, I have learned to just be prepared for anything. I have been so pleasantly surprised at her sweet nature, her brave and sometimes sassy attitude and just how easily she has insinuated herself into our hearts.

I do think she is pretty adorable, too, but looking at the pix here of the magnificent little horses, I'm not sure how she'll stack up!

Hi Welcome to the Forum!!! I too am new with minis and want to learn all I can. I am so excited I found this website, you will learn alot!!! Your little girl is adorable!! Have Fun!!
Hi there. Do you have a mini yet? If not, LOOK OUT! I only have one but I can see tiny horses dancing through my future. I still love my big girl and will continue to ride, but can see that having these little beauties will fit my lifestyle so well.

Which part of western Washington? Up north, middle or south?

Wherever you are, there are many opportunities for driving, from breed show ring to CDE to recreational. You'll have to get that girl driving and join the beachdrivers group in Long Beach at the end of summer. (Plus we're working on more drives this year).

As for trainers, it depends a lot upon what type of driving you intend to do. For a great all-around training (show, CDE, recreational), Dorothy Whiteman in Elma is hard to beat.

I have to giggle when you mention keeping you big pinto clean...my chestnut pinto Shetland, Scarlet, adores rolling in the mud. During winter's worst, she is no longer pinto, but mud brown all over.
Hi Susanne. I live in Kent, between Auburn and Covington so I'm pretty Central. Elma is about 2 hours from me but I love the drive out that way and LOVE going to the Beach. I have had a great time seeing one of my lifetime dreams come true-to ride my horse on the beach. A few years ago, Adora and I rode out of Grayland. What a blast that was.

Hubby reallllllly wants to build my cart for me... so I'm not sure if I'll have one by this summer or not. My gut tells me Dolly is going to take to it very easily. I know nothing of her background but someone did a nice job with her. She is very willing and moves pretty well from my voice commands. I worked behind her this evening on our walk and she was just fine, moving forward with my coaxing.

So, keep me in mind when you are putting your plans in order. I'll look forward to hearing more

Stacy, nice to meet you. Thanks for the offer. I'd love to come up and meet your "kids" and spend some time. I'm a big fan of learning and having this new little girl is a great new opportunity to learn. I'd love to hear how you feed yours.

I'm just soaking it all up. At your website right now and droooooooooling. I see my potato chip bag filling up!

Hello there from Rochester Washington. We are in between Centralia and Tumwater.

We currently have 7 minis. I have had minis 15 years or so. You should go the NWMHC schooling clinic coming up March 18-20th. You do not have to bring a horse but there are many clinics to watch and learn from. Plus it gives you access to ask trainers things you would like to know.

Your mare is very pretty. Would almost guess that she came from the "Just" line of horses. They were bred for many years in Oregon. We had a wonderful mare that was very similar to yours!

Welcome to the forum, This is the best place to learn about minis. Fairly new myself, I am learning a lot from everyone here and a wonderful group of people they all are.

There is a NWMHC meeting this weekend in Chehalis - great place to meet a lot of mini folks and get a feel for what is happening in our area. On Saturday the committees will meet to discuss upcomming hopes & plans and then on Sunday the committees will present their ideas to the general membership for voting - always lots of fun.

If you want more info - just give me a call.

WELCOME from NW Oregon! Lots of "mini' stuff going on in our area! Cute mare.

I agree with Crabby Chicken and Mountain Meadows ideas! Those are both great places to go and meet people and learn tons.

Welcome from mostly sunny Northern California.

Cute mare, silver bucksins are a great color. You'll be delighted once she's unwrapped in the spring.
Thanks. I spent quite a bit of time looking at your website. I love that area of CA. I grew up in So Cal, spent many years in Central CA and am now loving WA... but the Nor CA foothills have always held a special place in my heart. I have spent a lot of time wandering the Gold Road and have some friends in Georgetown.

Anyway, you have many many lovely horses!
