My farrier's favorite word is "patience."
"Should she still be sore? Do you think she's doing well? Is she 100% yet?" He checked her ever few weeks last May when we started this, then over the winter every 8 weeks, then he moved to every 6 weeks--and will do that for a third time in July. But today, finally, he said she's perfect. A whole new hoof has grown out. She's not had one set back. That is because we killed a lot of grass. Today is also the first day she has been allowed on the last new dry lot--which makes it complete. I am so pleased with how much room they have to roam. And yes...all five are dry lotted with her. Here's how it looks:
Run -in at the barn. There's twice the room inside than what you can see. They have a nice strong fan in there too for hot buggy days.
From that cement pad in front of the barn, looking out to the right--my round pen.
Round pen. Love this for lunging and dancing with Rosie.
Standing in the round pen looking over to the other side of the front pasture. This one was just opened today--to Rosie. The rest have nibbled on it.
Back at the barn looking left at the back of that other front pasture.
more to come
