I just cannot get over the pictures of your dogs and Saber. The love they have for each other is incredible. You just can't help but see it in the pics you post of them.

Oh Rachel, you have a lovely place to drive, thanks for sharing the pics and the video. Sabre is great, I didn't know you had him trained to harness, he listens really well. Love the pic with his 2 buddies.

Thanks

I'm pleased with how Saber is doing.

The cool thing is this "road" we are on is just past our house

...

the road we live on turns to dirt after 300 feet and is unmaintained.

As you see its a very pretty place.

Some of our neighbors use the road as a walking trail.

It goes on quite awhile and hardly gets any car traffic on it.

The pix & video from this morning were from Saber's 7th drive.

Last year Karen (KPM/Honeypony) hooked Saber up to one of her carts (to show me how to).

This year I said to myself there was no excuse to not driving him since I had him, a harness & a cart (and I had done ground training with him) so about 6 weeks ago I hooked him to his cart and walked behind it (I had posted pics.. the beginning of May asking for opinions on how I did putting him to).

It wasn't long before I was in the cart too and after a few times driving down our "road" we took Saber to Karen's and we went for a drive together in Norco... she with Appie & I with Saber.

Saber did decent there (his biggest "problem" was turning right - he rathered back up.. turning left was no problem)

So at home I double checked his body & mouth for any clues to any reason for this... finding none I did some flexing with him and getting him to turn right & fully around to the right (him totally naked) with more verbal cues then I had been.

Taking that time really paid off as our next few times under cart he is turning right with no problems.

Saber is a special guy to us.. its hard to beleive that his previous owners didn't know what they had... for them he was mainly an overfed lawn ornament.

You've done a great job with Saber. He's one of my forum favorites. He's lucky to have found such a wonderful home that enjoys him the way you do. Thanks for sharing him with us.

He is doing great Rachel! I watched the video here at work even though I'm not supposed to be on youtube! I couldn't resist.

These little horses give their hearts to us and you re correct, there are a lot of owners that don't realise what they have.

You are so lucky to have a trail around your house. I live in the mountains and it's so hard to find somewhere suitable to drive Bailey.

Bailey also had trouble with his right hand turns. I guess they have to learn a new way of bending and turning with the cart.

Great going there guys. I knew Saber would take to it like a pro!

We live in the mountains too but luckily our mountains (in Southern California) are touristy areas.

At one time there was talk about houses going in down the road we drive on.. lucky nothing so far and with the economy I doubt anytime soon.

Awe - your little man is a gem! He amazes me every time you post new pictures

I know you say that his previous owners did not realise what they had, but all credit to you for all the work and training you have done with him - between him and you it is a brilliant success story
