striped hooves

one of the mares that i brought home has striped hooves, i know that this can be a trait of POA's but haven't found anything about it with minis. the lady i got her from said she was a mini, and that her parents were both minis under 36.5" she is currently 39" at 2 years old. i have little faith in the previous owner due to her neglecting her animals, but was curious if anyone might have some knowledge into the striped hooves. thank you

Striped hooves are common in Appaloosas and Silver Based horses (from my inexperienced colour brain)

that is the thing she appears to be a red roan pinto. at least that is my best guess. i tried to upload photo but still can't get it figured out, i can email pics but can't figure out how to load on this- technology challanged lol

Possibility that she's pintaloosa, but without seeing photos or any info on background hard to say.. Does she have any appaloosa in her bloodlines?

A red roan pinto could be carrying the silver gene, and as said above, striped hooves are linked to the silver gene. On a red based horse you won't see the silver, but the striped hooves will show up!

I just saw this and was wondering is that the same for horses cause my Paint Overo has stripped hooves and was wondering where they came from, I apologize if I highjacked this I was just wondering the same thing? She's got 4 white stockings on her w/ the striped hooves.

It is not uncommon for pintos to have striped hooves

I have a silver dapple mare who has

1 Solid black hoof

1 hoof with a wide black stripe

1 hoof with numerous small stripes

1 Solid white hoof.

No white markings at all - no socks etc.

I have a 15 y/o solid light palomino gelding who has 4 striped hooves and have always been that way and both parents were not silver/grey nor did they have grey/silver in their background. . . . .
