It seems that being a Politician is a career, they 'have to' get voted back in again. Seems that so many are saying what we want to hear, just to vote them in/back in. Who knows what they really think, how they will really vote. Wish there was a chrystal ball to look into their minds and souls to see what they really feel and not what they want us to think they feel. Just so aggravating. oh, and this is just an anti-party rant, no one on either side seems to be anything less than self serving. There are only a few, and some are Republican, that I like and truly seem to want what the people want.

to put it simple: NO

they do what they can do get elected and they know just what to say to get YOUR vote.

sometimes good things happen, but most often not, they all just want to secure their own "rear" income/future etc. etc.

Very few are honest and most of em gets corrupted or "kicked" out.

I couldnt aggree more. Thats why I feel that they should be paid for the term's' they work. It shouldnt be a lifetime paycheck for 4 years service. Rediculous. WE should also be the ones to decide how much they are worth. After all they decided that minimum wage shouldnt go up, but decided that they should get a raise.

Until we do our homework and hold them accountable for their actions, and vote one cannot complain. We are getting what we ask for and those of us that do vote and read about the candidates pay the price for those who don't. One prime example is Mark Foley. He was representing our area. I did not vote for him. Such a disgrace!

Boy is Marylou right! We have got to do our part,,,,,,,,do homework,,,,,,,,and VOTE!

I am pushing this more than normal,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I just found out our County pays $35,000 a year,,,,,,,for a company to DUST the desktops at the courthouse..................Sad,,,,,but true.

$35,000 a year to dust.

Just can not believe what our government blows,,,,,,,check into just your city or county,,,,,,I bet you find something similar,,,,,,not to mention what the state is doing.

MaryLou, that is great advice! Too bad far too many people dont heed it. They blindly follow one Party till death and never think about why or who it is their are giving their precious vote to.

As for being accountible. That hardly ever happens anymore, and if it does the penalties are small.

I cant get over the recent statement of 'I would still be for the War if only my wife and dog were with me' ( k, know I got the words wrong but the gist is the same) That shows just how out of touch some Politicans are. They dont need to worry what their spouse thinks, they need to worry about what the people that voted them in think. Quite honestly, if I voted for that person I would both be highly ticked off that they didnt think I mattered, and they would know that I thought that. TG I didnt vote for that person, ever.

Carolyn tell them I will do it- after I pay my air fare I can still make a profit!!!

I do not blindly follow a party, but I always have supported the Republican Party. I will be voting accordingly in the up coming elections.

The commercials are getting on my very last nerve this year. The ones I've been seeing just remind me of little kids bickering back and forth.

But, anyway...

I am a staunch republican and will more than likely vote that way, but here is my problem. My party is acting like democrats on social issues and not thinking on foriegn issues. Here is my take on the political spectrum right now.

Republicans Cons:

They are spending like democrats, they have not done anything for our borders at all. They are not pushing Jessica's Law hard enough. The not supporting types of stem cell research and the flow of information from within to the public is bleak at best. That gives them the appearance of being secretive.

Republican Pros: The cut in taxes has given us a stock market over 12K now, which has catapulted my 401K. They took on a noble mission on the war on terror but has lead it poorely. Thats about it, they are letting me down alot.

Democrats Pros:

They care about the envoroment (moderates). ummmmm cant think of anymore right now

Democrat Cons:

Raise taxes on all, more on rich which kills the economy (you ever see poor people create jobs?) They want to give illegals benfits, schooling, and drivers licence, they support the death tax and tax on food. They like affirmitive action a little too much, they want to increase welfare benfits (Lets see how lazy we can make people). The want to raise the gas tax, they want to ban clean nuclear power (every major country uses this now but us).

They would just cut and run from Iraq, while i dont like that over there, leaving now would allow Iran to take control and would lead to oil control and middle east control. The would eventually control all the middle east incl saudi arabia if we dont contain them.

The views expressed above are soley the views of the poster and not that of any other entitly and are expressed in such a manner.
Thanks

Chris

I feel like over the long run, the Republicans will put us in a better place than the Democrats. As much as I am a republican, I cannot say I feel "excited" about any of the choices right now.

:aktion033: Robin Williams said it best "politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often and for the same reasons.

One suggestion that I heard recently....vote for all the newbys and send all the incumbents packing...it would send out a message for sure....

While i dont entirely agree with that, it does pose a great idea, vote for the party or person you like, but make sure he is new in politics and is fresh, maybe a person eager to make a mark

I, for one, am tired of all the negative campaigning and mud slinging. Every add, it's "he did this" "she did that" "he said he would........" "she didn't do.......".

I'm old enough that I can actually remember campaigning that wasn't so underhanded. Would love to see it go back to that. Just state their position on issues and not keep stomping on the opponent.

Ronald Reagan? K, that has me stumped, super nice guy, but aweful President. Trickle Down Theory, ammassed a gigantic deficit only surpassed by Bush Jr. That very deficit was what got Bush Sr voted out 'Read my lips, no new taxes'. Cant pay down a deficit without raising taxes. As for Republicans being the better long haul group. Cant see that ( cant see Dems as it either though) , they are notorious for running up deficits which people get tired of, then vote in a Dem and then blame the Dem for the raising of taxes

: forgetting who ran up the debt to being with.

Still think we should do away with parties. That would end the back stabbing, the scratch my back I'll scratch yours, favors that last forever. Hate the ads too, so and so voted this down so many times. Well yeah, but they forget to add WHY it was voted down, was it to vote a better one in? Was it because it was attached to many other poorly written bills? I hate that so many people subscribe to one train of thought and dont learn for themselves because their party tells them , basically, not too.

Little Donkeys - Chris........

I basically agree with both your posts. Frankly I'm not happy with either Republicans OR Democrats these days. I am registered as an Independent, but tend to lean to the Republican side in voting in many things because I do NOT believe government is responsible for running our lives or solving all of our problems (and then making US pay for all of their crazy ideas!)

I do believe in respecting our environment, which tends to be what Democrats support (or at least do the lipservice for).

The war in Iraq and Afganistan is not going to plan and is not being managed properly, but I don't think we should cut and run either. My ideas for that area would probably not be very popular, so my lip is zipped.

And the illegal alien/border control situation is a joke. This is a major area that Bush has failed badly on. I am not a "Bush Basher" but he truly has a blind spot on that subject.

Have you ever gone to a political caucus for your district to elect Rep., and Senators for your state house. Well i did this year. That is where the people are chosen for your district to select the party person to run, if there are 2 or 3 whatever they pick the one that is the most likeable and likely to get elected. Now i didn't say the "best informed" did i. That person is the one that gets the money from the party to do his/her campaigning. The others if they choose to go on do it without party funds. I was not a delegate but attended all the politcal formalities to see what the heck it is all about. The delegates selected a man for the party to back. Then at the primary we go vote. I use the term loosely because very few people vote in the primary around here. Yep this is the one where you have to vote strickly party. But it is a law that you have to have the primary vote. That's the way the system was set up who knows when. This year the people spoke out and did not vote for the person the party decided to back.

Example: All democrats/republicans/independents/whatever are listed by party on the ballot. So the guy that won the primary was refused party (not saying which party) funds to campaign. They even removed our district from the elections notices. Happens to be the guy i wanted in. I was happy. But we had to bow before the party head honchos, hold a special 2nd caucus so the party could endorse this candidate. What did the delegates do at this caucus? They got up and walked out. They were mad because the "people" didn't go with their wishes on a candidate. Bear in mind these delegates were people from our district just like you or i. Ordinary citizens that set out to do a service and got so caught up in things they got their noses bent when the rest of the people didn't agree with them.

Has nothing to do with your questions or comments. Probably has more to do with the average person not wanting to get involved enough to vote, be a delegate, campaign for the person you want. Give money to help them campaign as you get it back from the IRS. We did. Have to start with your local and state governments. Your senators and representatives. Work the way up the chain of command and hold your US senators and representatives in Washington accountable.

No easy fix. Now our guy has to beat out the one that has held the senate seat for our district for 14 years. Yes there should be a time limit on that. And the old cronies in the state office don't necessarily take kindly to the new blood coming in either. No easy fix.
