You don't have to spend a lot of money right now to get a nice stallion. For us, sure the pedigree is nice. You can say his dad showed and got this or that.... But, it really should be about the actual horse you are purchasing. Does that horse have good confirmation, color, personality...

I have had the same experience. My mare that's my icon rarely ever goes in a color class with out taking a first. But, color is always preference. I've seen a mostly solid horse beat a LOUD horse in multicolor.

One of my stallions is a very fickle breeder. He *hates* a couple of my mares. He isn't aggressive but he isn't interested in breeding them. I would try hand breeding your mare. Tease him and get him totally ready with a mare he really likes and then slip the mare you want to breed in...

I would never ever do that. Minis have enough problems with dystocias....why would you chance that?

I agree as well. We would never take out a loan to buy a horse. If you have to have an expensive one save up. There will always be horses for sale
