The importance of "being there" at foaling.....

You are so right about being there. I lost a filly 3 years ago that didn't get out of the sack so I bought an Equipage system. Missed both births last year (during day) but they were fine. This year was at both births which was a good thing because in both cases one front leg was back and we...

    hay prices

I jut had 100 bales delivered yesterday (Bermuda) for $3.50 a bale. There was a person to help unload it. I need a lot more than that, but can only afford to split up my purchases. I plan on getting a few round bales for the winter if I can find a place to store them out of the weather. I put...

How do you display your ribbons?

I am having mine made into a quilt to either hang up or lay over a trunk. We have tons and tons of horse show ribbons. My hubby made cabinents about 6 feet tall and hung them on my barn walls for all the trophies my daughter has won. Some of her trophies are over 3 feet tall. We hang our...

    How do you win??

Well, I would like to offer my opinion on this from a slightly different slant. I am on the Board of Directors of a local Saddle Club. We added 3 miniature classes to our line up a few years ago as some of our members owned miniatures and needed a place to show them. I myself have minis. A...

    Warning to others

Well, I still stand behind what I feel. I believe this forum is for learning and sharing in a positive way. Everyone handles things differently. This individual responded to an e-mail they received. Maybe not in the manner that most people would respond, BUT, they were responding to a...

    Warning to others

I have to agree here with Rabbitsfizz, I don't think e-mails should be repeated on the forum (IMO). I think the e-mail was a little harsh, but it was a personal e-mail and I know I would not want an e-mail I sent to someone appearing on a public forum. (IMO)

    I am extremely upset.......

In my opinion once the horse is sold it is sold. What they decide to do with it is their business. I know sometimes "feelings" get caught up in these transactions. I also don't see what difference being co-owned would make with the price of the horse.

Somebody murdered my son Michael tonite

Marty, I don't post on here very often, but I do read many posts and I have always felt a kinship with you. You have always seemed to be such a caring person. I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. I just looked at the pictures that were posted and I'm sitting here now crying...

New Foal - Hubby saved the day

We had a colt born last night. First live foal this year. We lost our first colt last month, it didn't get out of the bag. Anyway, I had the camera and Equipage up this go round. However, our receiption on the camera sucks this year. We had horizontal lines in the picture. (Our barn is...

Has anyone here ever sell out your horse herd

ABSOLUTELY! I sold my cart and harness a couple years ago and just now bought another one. I have not sold any minis that I regret as I am in the process of getting down to just 3 minis so have a few mares for sale. But I did sell my daughters Western Pleasure QH two years ago to someone I...

    I've hesitated to ask

Well I don't see dwarf either. He's just a short, stocky type. Plus, he's not clipped and that would really show more. As far as the bite goes, I don't think that it being a little off constitutes a dwarf either. Just my opinion, though.

What day best to breed in Foal Heat?

What is the normal time period that a mare comes into foal heat? Is it 7 days after delivering or what?

    Lost 1st foal for 2006

We lost our first foal this morning. Our mare Breezy was a maiden and she had bagged up but there was no waxing or any milk. I pasture breed so I was not really certain when she was due but I was expecting first part of May. I had the cameras up but was planning to put the Equipage up this...

I have read the information on jumping, but how do you teach a horse to tuck his knees and have proper "form"? Or is it possible?
