I have completed 3 projects this year; two were well started, almost done before the end of the year, so I just had to quilt those two and I do not have a picture of either of those, yet; the third, I started and finished yesterday and today on my new machine, I did take a pic. so, here's a pic of the table runner I just completed; it's a kit from Connecting Threads.

Very nice! Tell us about your new machine!

I upgraded my nearly 50 year old machine that my dad bought my mom in '75 or '76.
I got a Janome mechanical machine, as I'm in the sticks and repair shops are few and far between, I thought another mechanical would be my best option. While all I do is sew quilt tops on it, I still got a heavy duty machine, so if I ever do decide I might repair jeans or jackets, I should be able to.

Janome is a great machine. I upgraded by Singer, given to me as a graduation present in 1971, a few years ago. It works fine, but the motor just wouldn't sew heavy fabrics any more. I got a Pfaff. It can do wizard stuff, but I just use it for regular sewing. The big plus with it is the wonderful button hole maker. I do like to add button holes to some of my crafts and it is fun to use. Kind of like the new phones--it can do a lot more stuff than I am interested in learning. But it sews through multiple layers of fabric easily. I hope I never need to service it as I am 3-4 hours away from a dealer.

I have had Janomes for years and have given some as gifts to family members. This is excellent news about upgrading your old sewing machine.

This year I'm all about hats! We're entering enough HDT and CDEs now that I don't want just a helmet when I'm on course. I went ahead and ordered 2 of those helmet hat brims for me and my daughter. At $80 CAD a pop, I didn't buy a third for my other driving animal and outfit!
So I'm currently in the process of making a third hat brim from a "derby hat" I ordered from ebay, and creating hat bands and hat pins. A girl's got to accessorize after all! I'm collecting feathers, ribbons, and other embellishments. If you have a favorite youtube video or channel that shows how to accomplish such things, would you kindly share it? I'd love to learn more!

What a great hat project! What fun you will have embellishing. If you have thrift stores around you, check for flowers and ribbons. What about tulle netting?
Ooo I hadn't considered tulle netting! How pretty! Yes, thrift shops are a favorite and we often stop in when we're out and about. So many treasures to be found!

I saw a pic of a pattern for a sewing machine cover on a website, didn't buy the pattern, but wrote down the finished dimensions (which is evidently for a larger machine than mine), and winged it, and made this sewing machine cover.
