Need help with my gelded jack

Hello! I am new here and have a gelded jack he will be 2 in August his name is cash. He was gelded last may/june- I am 100% sure the vet took both balls out. I have 4 mini/micro mini Jenny’s and yesterday he mounted the 8 month old June. He 100% didn’t just mount her bc I was standing right there and saw a lot more than I needed to see ….i have reached out to a few people and they never heard of a gelded donkey actually still doing this. I am looking for help? Suggestions? What can I do? Is this normal?

Hi, What I have read from others it is not uncommon. Some donkeys can take up to a year before they settle down. There is usually no sperm after 2 months, so your jenny should be ok.

Oh yes. I've seen geldings do it plenty of times. They are supposed to lose interest, but some more than others. A lot of times that is if they are gelded late, but I guess not always.

Oooh mine was a handful at 2! Definitely pushed all the boundaries in his own darling donkey way. Made me feel like I didn't have a clue what I was doing training wise. But now that he's coming 6, we have a far better understanding.
I can't speak to gelded jacks mounting jennies, because I only have the one donkey in with my mini horses and my only mini mare would definitely not tolerate that from him, even if she was in heat.

What are you planning to do with Cash?

Well the last few days he has been much better…maybe it’s bc I brought the new baby and mamma into the group even tho I haven’t introduced them yet! The vet suggested giving him some hormones to calm him down- I did buy mare magic but haven’t given it to him yet. He is a love but man oh man when he is naughty he is horrible!
