    Please tell me again....

Marty I am not sure what you mean by "footer"? My stalls have a concrete channel that runs around the perimeter of the barn. Is that a footer? We have thick rubber mats, but they just don't reach all the way to that last 6" space. It is definitely pee....when I put a colt in the same stall...

    Please tell me again....

My stalls are roughly 6' x 12.5'. My stall mats are sized to cover my stalls all except the back 6". That is where the mares happen to pee. I want to make a French Drain in that 6" strip at the back of the stalls. I may eventually cut a strip of stallmat and place over that area, with the...

What gestation length due you all use to calculate your due dates for your mares?

I do alot of what tagalong does. I generally start checking my mares at around 290 days. I calculate my due dates using 310 days, knowing that most will generally go over that a little bit. Mine tend to average in the range of 315-325 days for gestation.

My babies have no tails left!!!!!

I just had this happen to two of mine. Fortunately we were able to identify the beavers of the bunch and separate the offenders. Not much you can do but let it grow with time.

Photographs stuck to glass after long term storage..

I recently discovered an entire milk crate full of framed family photographs that has been in storage for at least 10 years. MOST of the photos came right out of the frames, thankfully. However I have 5 that are stuck to the glass in some areas. Does anyone have advice about how to get these...

    I am Shocked,

I'm from Texas. I have read the majority of these posts on the IAMHA topic. Some I just skimmed but I got the gist of most of the information. I am not happy with the way AMHA is run. I do see many things that should be changed. I am tired of the constant drama with AMHA and the bickering...

AMHA Membership Numbers and my thoughts on the little guy being heard.

Jane is right on. 12,000 votes would not be that difficult to count, especially with the technology now available such as bar codes and scanning devices. If the registry can send out 12,000 membership renewal letters, and then process all of those as they are returned, then they can easily...

    AMHS

To exclude people's opinions who are not members of AMHA or currently breeding AMHA horses is not the right approach. You lose an entire market of POTENTIAL clientele by excluding their opinions. If you want the registry to grow, you have to take a marketing approach and provide a service that...

    AMHS

I am in favor of an AMHA-based registry that would allow oversized horses to continue as breeding stock. However I would NOT pay an additional membership fee to be able to register my oversize horses. I would simply let them remain with AMHR, as they already are. I also would NOT pay...

    Phobias, Fears and Revulsions

That just reminded me....I absolutely hate cockroaches too! I was raised around the Houston area (near the coast, rains alot, always wet) and oh my gosh they have the BIGGEST flying cockroaches. If you kill one, the sound it makes as its body is smashed is just sooo sickening. GAG I think I...

What is your worst Horsey Accident????

Oh dear mine's not nearly as bad as some of your injuries!!!! I had a beautiful quarter horse gelding when I was a teen. He was a dark bay (registered as "brown) with four white socks, white on his face, and a salt/pepper colored mane with a nearly all white tail. GORGEOUS and very unusual...

    Severe anxiety...please help

Xanax and Valium are both highly prone to addiction. I would definitely seek an alternative to taking these drugs. There are MANY MANY excellent drugs on the market for anxiety and OCD. You just haven't found the right one. Go BACK to your doctor and ask for something different instead of...

    Locating information

Well if these are not miniature horses, I would suggest joining a "big horse" forum and see if someone there may have a subscription to the studbooks. I think that might increase your chances, considering that you only have a thread of information.... Sorry I could not help...

    Colour Experts

The palomino CAN carry Agouti as it is red-based. But you'd have to test to know! In fact I have a palomino pinto mare that tests negative for silver, and positive for Agouti Aa. The silver dapple should be black + silver, and would provide the basis for black/bay/buckskin So there are even...
